Jiang Xiaodong, with a total length of12km, is a peculiar scenic spot formed by the cascade development of Dongjiang Dam. 1In August, 1986, a hyperbolic thin-shell arch dam with a height of 157 meters, Dongjiang Hydropower Station Dam, was completed and stored in Zixing County, Chenzhou City.

The dam divides the Dongjiang water into two sections, and the upper reaches store water into the lake, creating a vast Dongjiang Lake, which is known as the "Southern Dongting". Because the 10 km section between the two hydropower stations is located between steep canyons, it is narrow and winding, and looks beautiful and small compared with the upper reaches of Dongjiang Lake, so the locals call it "Little Dongjiang River" figuratively.

The mountains on both sides of the Jiang Xiaodong River are covered with lush vegetation, blocking the sunshine with clear water. In addition, water flows from the bottom of Dongjiang Dam at a depth of 100 meters, which keeps the water temperature of Jiang Xiaodong River at around 8 degrees Celsius all the year round. Therefore, when the weather is warm, after the cold river water comes into contact with the hot and humid air, the water vapor will evaporate in the river and condense into plumes of smoke, which will diffuse in my once verdant valley, like a waterfall flowing backwards, and like the plumes of smoke rising in Ran Ran, which is the "Fog on the Little Dongjiang River" scenic spot that fascinates countless tourists.
