Brief Introduction of Yunjushan Revolutionary Martyrs Monument

The monument of this memorial hall is 27 meters high and its body is covered with white marble. Its lines are simple, solemn and straight, showing a "sail" shape, symbolizing the revolutionary struggle in Zhejiang. For example, a ship in the "Qian Jiangchao" braved the wind and waves under the leadership of the China Producers' Party. The base is covered with black granite, and the top and front are covered with purple granite, which symbolizes that the blood of revolutionary martyrs is spilled all over the motherland. The front of the monument is inlaid with eight glittering characters inscribed by Comrade Chen Yun: "The revolutionary martyrs are immortal". The embossed wall surrounds the east, west and north of the monument, with a length of 82 meters and a height of 4.5 meters. It twists and turns, meaning the water of Qian Jiangchao, which not only enhances the artistic effect of the monument, but also enriches the content of the monument. On the light gray granite, there are group images of heroic struggles of revolutionary martyrs in various historical periods since the Revolution of 1911 in Zhejiang. These group images are all carved with forged copper plates. The statue of the warrior saluting at the east end and the statue of the mother and son holding an olive branch and a dove of peace at the west end expressed their respect for the martyrs. Large granite group carvings are located at the southern end of the main tunnel corresponding to the memorial monument, and they are mixed with natural landscape stones at random. This 560-meter-long uphill tunnel is located in the middle section of Wansongling Road. A pair of tall square variant lion-shaped doorposts and a white marble wreath altar make the entrance look solemn and novel. Climb the stairs along the tunnel, climb the 378 steps and rest platform, that is, reach the monument. There are two squares in front of the memorial hall and monument, which can accommodate more than 3000 people for mourning activities.
