The bridge is 834 meters long and 7 meters wide, and has 46 piers, all of which are made of huge stones. Luoyang Bridge is a famous ancient cross-sea beam stone bridge. It is as famous as Zhao Zhouqiao in the history of Chinese bridges, and is called "Luoyang in the south and Zhaozhou in the north". Mao Yisheng, a famous bridge expert, called it "China Ancient Bridge Champion".

The origin of the name of Luoyang Bridge

As early as before the Tang and Song Dynasties, there were Yue people living in Quanzhou. In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, due to social unrest, wars broke out from time to time, which led to a large number of people moving south in the Central Plains. Most of them moved to Quanzhou and Minnan, mainly from Henan, Heshui and Luoshui.

The language family used in Quanzhou and even the whole southern Fujian is called Heluo, that is, Minnan language. These people from the Central Plains, who brought advanced and developed agricultural technology and experience from the Central Plains, led the local people to reclaim and develop. They came to Quanzhou and saw that the mountains and rivers here were very similar to the ancient capital Luoyang, so they named this place Luoyang, hence the name of this bridge.
