Let me tell you how to eat in old Xi’an (Breakfast)

In the previous article, I introduced several restaurants and they were pushed to the homepage. The response was pretty good, but I feel like I still have more to say. Let’s write another article about food.

In fact, I should have written an article about eating long ago.

Why: Because I am one of the administrators of the Douban Xi'an Food Group, which is a large group with more than 16,000 people. At the same time, he used to be the group leader of a food group. In the eyes of many people, I am a senior foodie. Friends often call me and ask me where to eat. Taurus people do love to eat. When you are in a bad mood, you want to have a good meal, and when you are in a good mood, you also want to have a good meal.

I have watched a few episodes of "The Lonely Gourmet" recently, and I really feel that the protagonist is somewhat similar to me, haha.

Let’s talk about something practical. The topic is "What do people in Xi'an eat?" This topic is actually quite big, and it is not easy to explain it well.

Let me talk about morning, noon and evening.

People in Xi’an still have a lot of breakfast choices. After all, it is a provincial capital city and there are many kinds of snacks. There are both northern and southern flavors. Let me talk about some common local snacks.

This is what Baidu Encyclopedia says, and it is basically correct. Basically, the side dishes of each house are slightly different, but it seems that I have never eaten celery. Meatball and spicy soup is definitely the first golden signature of Xi'an breakfast. This is a kind of food sold by local Hui people. I have never seen it in other cities. And it is very popular with the people. I usually have a small bowl and a cake, break it into pieces and soak it in spicy soup. When the weather is cold in winter, eating a bowl will warm your whole body, not to mention how comfortable it is. I still remember participating in the school track and field team in elementary school. Before dawn in the middle of winter, my classmates came to my house and asked me to go to school. They asked my family for some money and we went downstairs to eat meatballs and spicy soup. Originally, I felt groggy but immediately became energetic after eating. The numbness and swoosh feeling in my mouth seems like just yesterday.

Here are some recommended spicy soup restaurants that I think are good.

1.1 ?Xinglaosan Hu Spicy Soup

This Hu Spicy Soup store is located on Laodong Road. It has been there for many years and it tastes good. Some of my classmates who work in other places took the train back to Xi'an. After returning home, they didn't go back home. They first went to Xing Laosan's house to have a bowl of spicy soup. However, his family now has many franchise stores, and the quality varies from good to bad. It is recommended to go to the main store to eat.

1.2 Liu Laohu Hot and Spicy Soup

This restaurant was once quite famous, located in the streets of Sajin Bridge. They sell it every morning and there is a long queue every morning. But then I moved once, and although it's still nearby, its popularity has dropped a bit, and it's not as popular as before.

1.3 Liu Feng Spicy Soup

This restaurant is actually a comprehensive restaurant, selling spicy soup, steamed buns, stir-fried buns, and cured beef steamed buns. Personally, I think the spicy soup is just average, I can only say it is average.

1.4 Lao Han’s Spicy Soup

In fact, this is my favorite restaurant. Because their Sichuan peppercorns are heavy, I like spicy spicy soup with a stronger numbing flavor. This restaurant also has salted duck eggs. You can order one and eat it with spicy soup. It's very fragrant.

1.5 Malli Spicy Soup

This may be the most famous restaurant among young people. Because in my impression, he was the first to sell spicy soup at night. After twelve o'clock in the evening, after young people come out from various nightclubs drunk, many people will choose to come to Mali to eat spicy soup. Think about it, after playing all night, they are slow to drink. Having something salty, spicy and numb will definitely make you feel awake and warm your stomach, so the business here is very good. There are often young people waiting to be seated at one or two o'clock in the evening, all of whom have finished their drinks. But now I personally prefer to go to the Western Wind next door to order an egg soup and fried bean sprouts. It feels better than Malli.

Many people are confused about the spicy meatball and spicy soup and the spicy and diced pork soup. In fact, they can tell by looking at the color. The spicy meatball and spicy soup is green, and the spicy and diced pork soup is red. The diced pork and spicy soup contains diced pork, kelp, tofu skin and other things, and it is not numb. The diced pork and spicy soup was introduced from Henan, but now it has basically become a fixed breakfast variety for Xi'an people. It can be said that there are as many stores selling diced meat and spicy soup as there are stores selling meatballs and spicy soup. Usually those who sell diced pork and spicy soup will have a sign saying it is authentic from Xiaoyao Town, Henan. I don’t know if the one there is particularly delicious.

Eat diced pork and spicy soup without eating pancakes. It is usually served with fried buns or fried dough sticks (some with large fried dough sticks, and some with small fried dough sticks also called fried steamed buns). Since I don’t like fried food very much, I also eat less spicy pork diced soup. Many people don't know Zeng Gao. The correct pronunciation is zeng, but the locals basically pronounce it jing cake (net cake). It is basically made with glutinous rice, red dates and red beans. I especially loved it when I was a kid because it is very sweet and easy to eat. You usually dig a piece into a snack box and eat it while walking with chopsticks. And I am very hungry. I will definitely not be hungry until noon if I have a big portion.

Camellia oleifera is also my favorite breakfast. A big pot with a long spout. If you want it, just pour a bowl out of the pot. In recent years, it has been popular to soak the twists, but I don't think they are necessarily delicious. Take a sip of the camellia oleifera. It contains sesame seeds and peanut kernels. The peanut kernels in the camellia oleifera are particularly delicious.

In fact, when I was a child, my family would make similar food, but it was called fried noodles. Just fry flour, a small amount of sesame seeds and peanuts in mutton oil. When you want to eat, scoop out two spoons and rinse it with boiling water. However, be careful when doing so. The water cannot be poured in all at once as it will form lumps, so pour it slowly. ?

The above are basically the most local breakfast options. In fact, there are many breakfast options, such as soy milk, fried dough sticks, and tofu (Xi’an only has salty ones, we don’t eat sweet tofu) , pancakes and fruits, Shandong multi-grain pancakes, rice noodles, but these foods should be available everywhere, so they are not worth mentioning.

I originally wanted to finish the meal in one article, but I have written so much about breakfast alone. I am afraid that it will be too long and no one will read it, so I will finish it first and write about lunch tomorrow. .
