Reflections after watching "The True Story of Ah Q"
We are familiar with Mr. Lu Xun; we are even more familiar with the characters written by Mr. Lu Xun. And Ah Q is the most typical of the characters we know well.
I was lucky enough to read the original work of "The True Story of Ah Q" and the film version of "The True Story of Ah Q".
The first feeling is: the film seems a little different from the wish. But what's the difference, I can't tell at the moment. I picked up "The True Story of Ah Q" and flipped through it carefully, pondering it carefully, and finally got a taste of it.
In Mr. Wang’s works, all the characters are “sorrowful for their misfortune and angry for their inability to fight”, and Ah Q is particularly disappointing. The Weichuang where Ah Q lives makes people even feel hopeless: The powerful people such as Mr. Zhao, the conservatives such as Wu Ma, the boring people such as Wang Hu Xiaod, and the indifferent people such as the old man from Tugu Temple are so heavy that people can't breathe, and the darkness is so dark that people can't see the light.
When Ah Q survives in that kind of environment, you cannot expect him to be a person with personality, self-esteem, and achievement. He is just an "insect" who cannot even protect the most basic rights to survive. The Ah Q described by Mr. Wang and the Weichuang written by Mr. Wang are full of disappointment.
In film and television dramas, Weichuang and Ah Q seem to have some rays of hope looming. The biggest change is the old man of Tugu Temple.
When Ah Q was gambling, the old man was afraid that he would lose everything again, so he asked him to go back and rest early. This made people startled and wondered whether this was the cold and heartless old man who visited the temple.
When Ah Q had no money to give to the landowner, he took out his winter quilt and gave it to the landowner. The old man quickly took the money to redeem it. The land security guard laughed and said that this old man is really good at taking advantage of others. At this time, we felt that this was the old man visiting the temple in Mr.'s painting. However, what happened next was shocking: the old man returned the quilt to Ah Q and passed away with a sigh. At this time, a trace of surprise flashed in Ah Q's eyes, and a trace of emotion must have flashed in his heart, although he didn't know it himself. We were stunned again, then felt a little unhappy and a little happy. What is unpleasant is that the character image is completely different from that in the original work; what is pleasant is that some people care about Ah Q.
The next scene moved us: when Ah Q came back from the city, the land security guard came to take the "filial piety" money, and Ah Q "uttered the truth after drinking" and told how he could "get rich" "Yi Gu Nao'er told the local security guard. The old man blamed Ah Q. It was okay to talk to him about this kind of thing, but how could he talk to someone like the land security guard? That kind of tone is not a sarcastic expression of gloating, but a sincere concern from the heart. It's like the kindness shown in an old man's blame for an ignorant child.
Weizhuang - the village of the future, we can finally see a glimmer of the future.
And in Ah Q, we have also seen at least one shining point!
In Ah Q's "Revolutionary Dream", when everyone was sent to move furniture, Ah Q asked the old man in charge of the temple to rest because Ah Q thought he was too old. This small gesture made us feel the beauty that can be called kindness in Ah Q. This is a kind of hope. Perhaps this hope can help Ah Q become a complete person.
However, Ah Q died in the end, before he became a complete person. Ah Q's hope was shattered. However, there is still hope in Weichuang.
Mr. Lu Xun once said in "Preface to "The Scream": "As for myself, I don't want to infect the loneliness that I have experienced when I was young and had good dreams like mine. Like young people." I think if your husband saw the image of the old man in Tugu Temple in "The True Story of Ah Q", Ah Q's only shining point as a human being, he would agree.
