Plate selection guide! Save the novices from being overwhelmed.

Talk about the board

I want to say something before talking about it, because many Sumitomo people have seen and forwarded the previous switch guide, so I am still very happy. I carefully wrote down the guide for plate selection. I hope all Sumitomo friends will comment and add it to your collection! Today I will popularize the content for all decoration novices: the selection of wood. This is also a big problem I encountered during the decoration process. It's not a good word, it's not professional, so please forgive me.

Have you ever had the feeling that when you enter a board store, a cabinet store, or a wardrobe store, the clerks say a lot of names: paint-free board, particle board, toothed board, solid wood board, etc. There are so many that it’s impossible to choose. The board is really too deep

So I personally divided these all-inclusive boards into several categories:

a. Log wood

b. Multi-layer solid wood

c.Toothed plate

d.osb (Oskin board)

e.Large plate

f.Particle board

Note: This is also my personal ranking

Now I will tell you about it

Log:

As the name suggests, it is on the tree Made from large pieces of wood, it is nearly natural in every aspect. But there is a misunderstanding here that many people confuse logs with solid wood. Many people think that the solid wood they buy is logs, but it is not. So don’t let the businessman play with the concept and enjoy it yourself. The only drawback: expensive.

Multi-layer solid wood:

It is made up of layers of wooden boards and also contains glue, so the amount of formaldehyde depends on the selected brand manufacturer.

Because of its load-bearing effect and maximum nail-holding strength, I chose multi-layer solid wood for the whole house. There may be many types of wood in multi-layer, such as fir, mahogany, eucalyptus, etc. Generally, fir is used most.

?Tooth splicing plate:

That is to say, you can clearly see the traces of the upper and lower teeth interlocking in the cross section. According to the plate bosses, the durability is not inferior to that of logs. However, I personally feel that the load-bearing capacity will be the same as that of a large board, and it will easily deform over time.

?OSB:

I believe many people have seen this material in some store decorations. It is low cost and more environmentally friendly than particle board. It is made of high-temperature extrusion of wood chips from logs. ?

OSB is also one of Bunny's signatures. I originally wanted to choose it to customize the cabinets, but the white color I wanted was not available. The wood grain on the white surface of Bunny's osb was too dark. ?

?Large board:

It is made up of multiple large wooden boards, which is very similar to the toothed board. However, my personal understanding is that the load-bearing force of such a structure is too weak. (It is also one of Bunny’s signature boards, but now there are too many fake Bunny ones, so everyone chooses carefully)?

?Particle board:

Nowadays, it is the first choice of many large-scale customization manufacturers. , such as IKEA and Sofia (not to mention the workmanship), because of their low cost and brand influence, the profits for merchants are very considerable. But if you choose particle board that is not a brand, you should really pay attention to it, because particle board is extruded with glue, so if you don’t have the ability of a big manufacturer, you really don’t want to use it if the formaldehyde exceeds the standard. (Another problem with particle board is that its nail-holding ability is relatively average)

Tell me about my home case

I chose multi-layer solid wood throughout the house, which was white and painted. Paint-free is also available. ?

Personally, I don’t recommend choosing matte colors. Cleaning them later will be particularly difficult to remove even slight marks. I'd rather it be shiny and have fingerprints on it that will come off when rubbed.

So in the end, except for the wardrobe and tatami in the room, I used paint-free boards and accepted the wood grain texture on the surface. I chose lacquered edges and lacquered doors for all other places (to put it bluntly, I just didn’t have the money). Haha, the price of baking paint is really painful, and don’t trust those photos too much, you can’t see the material at all). ? Entry shoe cabinet?Real picture

Real picture of the cloakroom?

As for the cabinet at home, I chose to customize it for the whole house instead of hiring a carpenter to build the cabinet on site. The reason is very simple. Knowing a very reliable master is very unpredictable.

Therefore, I chose to trust the machine, and if there was any problem, the merchant who customized the cabinet would bear the responsibility and share the risk. Here I will show you the comparison between customization and on-site cabinet edge banding. Manual processing still uses glue or air nails, but I personally feel that machine processing is more complete.

There is also a saying that good edge sealing technology can seal all formaldehyde inside (I have not verified this).

Let’s talk about the algorithm of the board

There are expanded area and projected area

General merchants will choose the projected area which is vague, which is length times width. The price of the excess portion of the laminate will soar. So when choosing this algorithm, you must ask clearly. For this algorithm I use at home, my boss said that I would only need to include all the partitions in one square meter (and the boss also included my ribs in some places). This is an additional charge).

The expanded area is the length times the width of all wooden boards, including laminates. This seemingly fair algorithm calculates how much you use, but you must pay attention to the conversion ratio. I asked a multi-layer board company before to calculate my price of 500 per square meter, and I think the price is acceptable. In the end, it was calculated that it was 100 square meters, and the total price was very expensive. I asked my current boss, and he told me that the normal expansion area x 3.5 times is the projection price (the coefficient of the wardrobe). According to the market price of 5", it is in the range of 500 to 600. The price per square meter should be around 160, so if I had agreed at that time, I would have actually sold the multi-layer solid wood at 1,500 per square meter.

So everyone must ask when customizing. Be clear about the algorithm. Then write "if the formaldehyde exceeds the standard, return the goods and refund" in the contract!

Let’s talk about the electric lifting table for hardware and tatami

1. You must choose well. As for the hardware, my cabinets have been upgraded to Blum. The wardrobes, storage cabinets, and shoe cabinets all use DTC. And all my cabinet doors use Heidis bouncers.

2. You need to reserve power for the electric tatami lift table, and then you need to buy it in advance and hide the cable of the lift table behind the board, otherwise it will only be exposed? (As shown below)

The correct way is as follows ?, so that you can completely hide your lines in your tatami.

That’s all I can think of. If you have anything to ask, just ask me. I will reply as soon as I see it. Thank you all. Watch!
