The data of the ninth national forest resources inventory show that the forest resources in seven provinces (cities) are in a good state of continuous increase in forest resources area and volume, and improvement in forest quality and structure.

Forest resources inventory refers to the investigation of trees, woodlands, wild animals and plants in forest areas and other natural environmental factors. Its purpose is to find out the distribution, species, quantity and quality of forest resources, find out its changing law, objectively reflect the natural and economic situation, make a comprehensive evaluation, and put forward comprehensive and accurate forest resources survey data.

It includes four elements: land type, vegetation type, wetland type and land degradation. Its task is to find out and master the dynamic changes of land use types, land vegetation status and its coverage, wetland and land degradation types and their degradation degrees in time through continuous inventory.
