Why do you meditate? Why do you practice meditation?

The ancients said: sedentary meditation. It sounds as if you can meditate and be enlightened as long as you are willing to sit for a long time. In fact, only when the method of meditation is right can you sit for a long time, become a Zen and benefit yourself. On the contrary, if the method is wrong, you will get sick over time and have the opposite effect. These are all subtle words left by ancient sages. But if you want to practice meditation to be useful, you must know why you practice meditation. In this article, I will share six points to tell you, the first and sixth of which are what you want!

Number one: Why do you practice meditation?

Why practice meditation? Zen is a way of life for people to exercise their thinking and develop their wisdom. It is a behavior based on "stillness", that is, "static filtering". It is a way of practicing Buddhism, because it is based on reason and devotes itself to rational thinking and learning, so it is also called thinking practice.

Among the inherent Buddhist cultures, Zen culture is the most representative. Every winter, there are ways to meditate, such as Zen Seven, and of course there are ways to practice Buddhism and Zen. Meditation was originally called meditation by Buddhists, but now people are used to it. Then why meditate?

The basic elements of Buddhist practice are "abstinence and wisdom" and "no leakage". Discipline is a Buddhist discipline. It is convenient to practice meditation from abstinence, diet and other aspects. Buddhism believes that wisdom can only be born on the basis of human physical and mental stability, and "wisdom" is wisdom. Only when the body and mind are stable can meditation lead to wisdom. So, why practice meditation? Practicing meditation is to calm one's mind by sitting quietly, so as to realize enlightenment or consciousness.

The second point: stop.

In the history of China, the classic work "University", which has unique academic characteristics, academic achievements and social status, once said: "Zhi Zhi will decide later, decide later, be quiet later, be quiet later, be safe later, be safe later, be safe later." "Stop" here means to stop and stop moving forward. People are troubled and uneasy by various factors. Not only can't we decide.

The third point: setting

There will be peace (quietness) after the inspection. There must be distraction, body and mind. All three are indispensable. With a fixed body, restless, there will be trouble. Just like during meditation, some people were in Cao Cao's camp and their hearts were in the Han Dynasty, and there were various phenomena in which there were six gods without a master. Only after we decide, can we imagine everything in the world. If there is more uncertainty, meditation will not make progress. Only by calming down can we analyze the things around us in meditation.

The fourth point:

Be quiet before you can settle down. When the mind is uncertain, it will be chaotic, and when you start thinking, you can't control your emotions. There will be trouble, fear and anxiety. If you can settle down, you won't be in trouble. The so-called "coming is safe." Only in this way can we have wisdom in meditation. Looking for answers in silence.

The fifth point: worry

Safety first, then worry. Don't be afraid of anything. Only by calming down and calming down can you find the answer in silence and find the most suitable way to deal with difficult things. We should stop all kinds of thoughts in life from the beginning and calm down to plan the best way out. If the mind is uncertain, it is superficial to consider everything. Therefore, only when the mentality is stable will there be wisdom. The so-called "solving the near and seeking the far".

The sixth point: Yes.

Think about it before you take it. The so-called "thinking determines the way out, and the brain determines the pocket." Only when the mind is born with wisdom can there be good thinking.

Therefore, we practice meditation not only for self-cultivation, but also for enlightenment. If you can do the above five points, you will gain something. Only when the body and mind are stable can meditation lead to wisdom. As far as the core content in the Diamond Sutra is concerned, meditation is to "protect the heart" or "settle the heart" by sitting quietly, so as to show the nature, the wisdom from the heart and get enlightenment.
