Chapter 9: Family Meeting

This chapter is about family education. Properly held family meetings are also a good education method.

Benefits of Family Meetings:? Problems are raised in family meetings and the children come up with solutions. Mom and Dad are not responsible when things go wrong in implementing the family's decisions. The parents stay out of it, the kids enforce the rules, and the rules apply to everyone in the family, including mom and dad.

What are the differences between family meetings and class meetings?

1. Family meetings should be held once a week, not once a day. After setting the time for the meeting, it’s time to stick to it.

2. Decisions should be made based on unanimous consent. If agreement cannot be reached, move it to the next meeting.

3. Family meetings should include a discussion of next week’s activities.

4. The last item before the end of the family meeting should be used to plan family entertainment activities for the next week.

5. Family meetings should end with an activity in which the whole family participates. You might want to play a game, eat popcorn, or make dessert for everyone to eat.

6. Sitting around a clean table helps you concentrate on solving problems. You can also do casual homework and have meetings in the living room.

The "building blocks" of a family meeting

Chairman, secretary (take turns to do these two tasks), acknowledgment (each family meeting should start with everyone thanking other members) , thank you (say what you are grateful for), agenda, solve problems, plan family activities, plan family fun activities, discuss household chores, spice up family meetings
