What is kumquat?

Kumquat is a common citrus fruit with high sugar content. Common kumquat is not a hybrid variety, but a kumquat variety cultivated in China since the 1990s.

Kumquat is usually propagated by grafting, with seedlings of other citrus plants as rootstocks and annual stout spring shoots as scions. Cut off the leaves and keep the petiole. Cutting method is adopted from April to May, bud grafting operation is carried out from June to September, and docking is carried out in April. When grafting, attention should be paid to removing the roots of rootstock seedlings and healing them after 45 ~ 60 days.

Kumquat origin:

Kumquat is a tropical fruit, mainly produced in the south or northwest of China, cultivated in Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangxi and other places, and mainly distributed in South Margarita, Italy, Ron and other areas abroad.

Kumquat likes warm and humid environment, and its origin is widely distributed in the southern foot of Qinling Mountains and the Yangtze River Basin. The main planting areas are Youxi in Fujian, Ningbo in Zhejiang, Liuyang in Hunan, Suichuan in Jiangxi and Rong 'an in Guangxi. Kumquat has high edible value, which can be eaten fresh, as well as fruit tea drinks and candied fruit.

Kumquat ripening season and month:

Kumquat is not an out-of-season fruit, but it can be supplied all year round. Usually, it is gradually picked and put on the market in August every year, and the 6 yuan/Jin is about after picking and putting on the market.

The shape and appearance of kumquat:

The skin of kumquat is blue before it is ripe, and turns golden yellow after it is ripe. The whole is round, smaller than oranges and larger than ordinary oranges.

Kumquat cultivation method:

1. Soil: It is best to cultivate with soft, breathable and fertile soil and prepare the substrate suitable for potted plants.
