Late Autumn Yangtze River Translation by Meng Haoran
Meng Haoran's post from the Yangtze River in late autumn is translated as follows:
The leaves are falling one after another, and there is smoke and frost in the southeast. ——Tang Dynasty·Liu Zongxu's "Late Autumn Mail to Meng Haoran from the Yangtze River" The leaves are falling one after another, and the southeast is covered with smoke and frost. The leaves are falling one after another, and there is smoke and frost in the southeast. The forest and mountains look like dusk, and the sky and the sea are blue. As the darkness lasts longer, so does the sound of autumn. A lonely boat with a faint moon, still crossing the countryside alone at night. The cold flute is opposite Jingkou, and my old friend is in Xiangyang. Chanting "Si Lao Tonight", Jiang and Han look at each other from afar. I miss my friendship
Every day, the bright light shines on my clothes. Three hundred poems from the Tang Dynasty describe spring scenery with leaves falling one after another and smoke and frost rising in the southeast. ——Tang Dynasty·Liu Zhenxu's "Late Autumn Mail to Meng Haoran from the Yangtze River"
Extended information:
Liu Zhenxu (shèn) was born in the second year of Kaiyuan (714), with the courtesy name Quan B, a native of Xinwu, Hongzhou (now Fengxin County, Jiangxi Province). Can write at the age of eight. In the 22nd year of Kaiyuan (734), he became a Jinshi, official of Luoyang Wei and Xia County Magistrate.
He is proficient in classics and history, and his poems are mostly secluded and have a style similar to that of Meng Haoran and Chang Jian. He was a relatively indifferent person, and his friends were mostly mountain monks and Taoists. Only one volume of his poems has been extant. Most of his poems describe the seclusion of mountains and rivers, especially in five characters. Liu Shenxu was an indifferent person, free from snobbishness. He resigned from office and returned to his fields in his prime, focusing on the mountains and rivers. He became friendly with poets such as Meng Haoran and Wang Changling and sang harmony with each other.
He once visited Taoyuanli, Jianchang County, Hongzhou, Jiangnan West Road (today's Taoyuan Village, Shuikou Township, Jing'an County, Jiangxi Province). Seeing the beautiful scenery and honest folk customs, he settled here and built the Shenliu Reading Hall. Books entertain themselves. The first line of the poem "The Road Leads to Baiyun Ju" uploaded in "Three Hundred Tang Poems" was written at this time and place, and was originally titled "Returning to Taoyuan Township". He died at the age of 54 and was buried in Yunshan Nao, the village. His tomb still exists.
This poem is a poem written by a poet who slowly writes from the solemn scene of the Yangtze River in late autumn near Jingkou (the old city is in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province today). From the confused scenery, he draws out the feeling of living alone in the countryside. I was worried about being a guest, and then I remembered my friend Meng Haoran who was far away in Xiangyang, Hubei Province. The whole poem is introduced layer by layer in structure, and goes deeper step by step. Reading it is like talking with friends, and it is full of affection.
This is an ancient five-character poem. In the description of the late autumn scenery of the Yangtze River (the Yangtze River) in central Vietnam, the author embodies the sorrow of being a guest in a foreign land and the deep longing for his old friend Meng Haoran.
