Folklore of Longmu Bay

There are many fishermen living along the coast of Longmu Bay who have made a living by fishing for generations. They are full of respect and pride in the bay that supports them, because they have harvested a lot from fishing over the years. Everyone thinks that this bay has good feng shui and is blessed by the Dragon King. Most of the legends circulated among fishermen are related to dragons.

According to local villagers: Western Hainan has been dry and rainless since ancient times, and the seaside is extremely hot. There are five tigers living on the Jianfengling Mountains and a Dragon King living in the bay. They have always kept their peace. Although the Dragon King envied the cool climate in the mountains, he could only dream about it due to the five tigers guarding the mountains. The Baisha River flows out from Jianfengling and winds its way to Longmu Bay. When the Dragon King is really uncomfortable with the heat, he can only take a few sips of the cool Baisha River water to relieve the heat. One day, the sunset scenery at the seaside was so beautiful that the five tigers could not resist the temptation and met to watch the sunset at the seaside. Unexpectedly, the tigers coming down the mountain annoyed the Dragon King. The tigers could not defeat the Dragon King and were trapped on the way back to the mountain. Over time, It turned into the Five Tiger Pond on the Baisha River. The victorious Dragon King occupied the top of Tiger Mountain. He usually lived in the fresh and cool Jianfeng Ridge. When it rained heavily, he went to bathe in the sea at the foot of the mountain.
