China National Botanical Garden, with a total planned area of nearly 600 hectares and an open area of about 300 hectares, is the first national botanical garden in China. National Botanical Garden includes South Garden and North Garden (Beijing Botanical Garden).

The South Garden has a 15 characteristic garden, an exhibition greenhouse, the Kangxi Imperial Monument and other cultural landscapes, as well as national ceremony plants such as the Bodhi Tree, the largest herbarium in Asia, and the China Museum of Ancient Plants. There are 14 special gardens, the largest Metasequoia conservation area in northern China, and the reclining Buddha Temple, a national key cultural relic protection unit. Botanical Garden * * * collected a total of 15000 species (including species and below), and nearly 40 species of national first-class protected plants.

The exhibition greenhouse (North Park) has a building area of 9,800 square meters and an exhibition area of 6,500 square meters, covering an area of 5.5 hectares. The design theme of the greenhouse building is "the memory of green leaves to roots", which was once rated as one of the top ten buildings in Beijing in the 1990s. The exhibition greenhouse is divided into four main exhibition areas: tropical rain forest area, desert plant area, Four Seasons Garden and special plant showroom, displaying more than 60,000 plants of 3 100 species.

Exhibition greenhouse (Nanyuan) is the oldest plant exhibition greenhouse in Beijing. It now includes nine exhibition rooms, namely, four seasons flower room, palm room, shade plant room, gymnosperm room, insect-eating plant room, fruit tree room, succulent plant room, aquatic plant room and bodhi room. It has collected and displayed more than 2,000 tropical and subtropical plants (including cultivated varieties).
