Reasons for poor academic performance

Although I object to the theory that academic qualifications are scores, it is not my inner worry that children's academic performance is low, but I also deeply know that children's academic performance is poor, which is really difficult for some parents to understand. Since you can't jump out of grades, cats are also secular. Let's start with the topic of children's academic performance: some parents and friends I contact are really unhappy with their children. The children are all the same, and so are the teachers. Why are their children not doing well in school? It seems that you can't blame others for this, but your own children: it's not that the children didn't listen well in class; That is, the child did not finish his homework properly and did not correct his mistakes properly; Either the child is too careless. If these are not, then the child is too lazy! Why can't my children do what other children can do? Parents and friends are the money that should be spent, and the money that should not be spent is spent; The energy that should be spent and the energy that should not be spent are also spent; The methods that should be used and the methods that should not be used have also been used; Why can't children get up in grades? Especially those parents and friends who know that they are intellectuals, with high academic qualifications, high positions and high incomes, are really puzzled by the fact that their children's academic performance has been poor! Children feel extremely painful under the educational mode of parents' constant efforts, constant demands and constant lessons for their own achievements. They feel that their parents seem to have a hard time with themselves for their grades. If their academic performance doesn't go up, parents will hate that they can't kill their children any faster! In order to keep their little self-esteem and inner sense of self-worth, children are either distorted by their parents' high pressure on their grades; Or endure under this kind of high pressure, find an opportunity to think about "revenge" and return the depression buried in your heart for many years to your parents, so as to make a quick decision and avoid stagnation. Children and parents used to be one, but they became enemies and two hostile camps for their achievements. They fought fiercely, from soft grinding to hard foaming, carrots and sticks to strong orders, they did everything they could. However, with the efforts of parents, many children still have not achieved good results, and some even give up on themselves, so there is no progress. Why on earth? Where did it go? I want to say that in the face of children's unsatisfactory academic performance, parents should not rush to comment on their children. Maybe the problem behind this is not the child. I remember I wrote a passage in the blog post "Parents are the Pushers of Children's Internet Addiction": "But these parents and friends didn't think it over. Not all people are suitable for today's school education, especially in China. Generally speaking, people have eight kinds of intelligence. Our current school education is only beneficial to children with two kinds of intelligence, one is mathematical logic intelligence, and the other is linguistic logic intelligence. Other children led by other intelligences are in China today. There is almost no learning platform. " Because that blog post was mainly about children's addiction to the Internet, I didn't elaborate on the blind spots in eight intelligent and today's school education and family education. I will talk about this topic here, which may help parents and friends to understand their children more clearly and help them create a broader space for growth. Eight intelligent, also known as multiple intelligences, was put forward by howard gardner, a professor of developmental psychology at Harvard University in the United States on 1983. This theory has aroused enthusiastic response from educational and psychological circles all over the world, and its educational concept has been implemented in many schools in the United States and Europe. Professor Gardner defines intelligence as the ability to solve problems or create works valued by culture in various cultural backgrounds. Professor Gardner believes that human intelligence is diversified, which mainly consists of eight aspects: language intelligence, mathematical logic intelligence, spatial intelligence, body movement intelligence, music intelligence, interpersonal intelligence, self-cognitive intelligence and natural cognitive intelligence. Everyone has a different combination of intellectual advantages. We should look at the concept of "intelligence" more broadly. Every child is unique, intelligent and capable of becoming a talent in certain fields. No one is omnipotent, and no one is incompetent. There are several important points about multiple intelligences: first, the eight intelligences in multiple intelligences are independent of each other. One kind of intelligence is very good, but the other may be very poor, and few people can have everything; Second: Everyone has different innate intelligence combinations. For example, some people are very strong in Chinese and music, but they are particularly poor in social interaction. Therefore, it is necessary to find out everyone's best intelligence combination through evaluation; Third: Every kind of intelligence has a certain critical period of age, after which it is difficult to develop. Music, for example, should be cultivated from an early age, and it is difficult to learn after age. However, paintings belonging to spatial intelligence can be learned and developed regardless of age; Fourth: Everyone should not only find their own smart combination, but also find the combination of learning styles. For example, people with intelligent language and writing can remember by reciting. But for a person with strong body movement intelligence but weak language intelligence, he may not be able to calm down and recite, but it is better to recite by singing. Fifth, the evaluation of the theory of multiple intelligences is not to queue up children, nor is it just to discover little geniuses, but to discover each child's intellectual potential and characteristics, identify and cultivate their intelligence and interests different from others, help them realize the development with rich personality characteristics, and provide them with an effective way to establish their sense of self-worth. This theory not only tells us that each child's intellectual characteristics are different and the five points mentioned above, but also tells us the fact that children with different intellectual characteristics have different learning channels. This requires educators to provide children with different intellectual characteristics with learning platforms corresponding to their learning characteristics in the teaching process. Only in this way can children's learning channels be smooth and efficient. But in today's school education in China, this is not the case. Our school education only has the platform of language intelligence and mathematical logic intelligence, in other words, it only provides a learning platform for children with these two intelligences, and other children will suffer more harm under the teaching mode set by the school now. Although our school has six corresponding courses in these eight kinds of intelligence: Chinese, mathematics, physical education, music, art and nature, there is no relationship between the transfer and acceptance of knowledge between classes. If children's dominant intelligence is spatial intelligence, that is, as the saying goes, art is good, there is no relationship between the knowledge points to be taught to children in the math class taught by the teacher and the art class taught by the art class, while the academic achievements referred to by parents and schools generally only refer to academic achievements such as Chinese and mathematics. This kind of children with good spatial intelligence can only be sacrificed in school education in China, and many of these children are classified into the circle of poor academic performance. This unrelated teaching mode is quite common in China education today. In this case, although many children have worked hard to learn the subject knowledge taught by the school, their academic performance is still very incomprehensible. Seriously, the children with good spatial intelligence I mentioned are not the worst in the school education in China today. Children with high physical and sports intelligence are in the most embarrassing situation. Teachers often find parents who think that such children can't sit still, are disobedient and are naughty. What's more, they will be labeled as ADHD, thus being marginalized by school education, which will make parents and children pay great pain and cost. To change all this, I think it is almost impossible to rely on schools at present. Only parents should carefully understand their children's learning characteristics first, and then come up with corresponding methods according to their learning characteristics to help their children achieve better learning results. Here, I will give you a few small examples, which can be regarded as attracting jade, so that parents and friends who are confused in this area can come up with their own ways to help their children. Once, I went to an international primary school to watch them teach children. I saw all the children drawing pictures, including noses, vases and a flower. At first, I thought the children were in the art class. Later, I learned that they were in a math class. Because the theme of math class is symmetry, they not only teach children symmetry through coordinate photography, but also teach such a content through art teaching. This provides suitable learning channels for children with good spatial intelligence but poor mathematical logic intelligence, so that children with good spatial intelligence can master mathematical knowledge through painting. There, I also learned that in order to teach these contents in math class, they also took their children to the aquarium to observe marine life, so that they could see that both land animals and marine life have symmetrical characteristics, and those children with high intelligence and knowledge of nature also had a new learning platform. There is another example that I experienced personally. Although my little girl is a child with a problem of unity consciousness and doesn't like sports very much at ordinary times, when I was in primary school, I found that the child's ancient prose recitation was very problematic, and she could hardly recite the ancient prose left by the teacher. I have failed in many aspects, so the teacher always looks for me. Later, inspired by English teaching method, I wanted to try it with body memory. I have edited each of these two ancient poems, waiting for a rabbit and carving a boat for a sword. I didn't expect the child to like it very much, but it didn't take much effort to recite it. From then on, I will choose this method to help my children tide over the difficulties if I have the content of reciting ancient Chinese. It was not until this recitation was no longer a big trouble for her that I stopped paying attention to the child's problem. It can be seen that if the school can't provide some matching learning platforms for children, parents should take action to build such platforms for children and create a channel for children to get in touch with subject knowledge. If we just force the children blindly and use the ready-made methods provided by simple schools to save their achievements, I think the result will only make the parent-child relationship between parents and children worse and worse, and divide everyone into two hostile camps! When parents and friends have certain professional knowledge, they will no longer blame themselves blindly: why is my child's grades not good? So blame the children: why the grades are not good! It will be easier to face the problem of poor academic performance of children and find ways to deal with their unique differences in life! Don't forget to vote for the cat here, thank you!
