What is the state of diamond after cutting and polishing?

There are two kinds of diamond waist: sand waist and polished waist.

Generally speaking, diamonds under 1.5 carats are sand waist. 1.5 carats or more is used for grinding waist. Most of the world famous diamonds use polished waist.

For small diamonds, the sand waist can keep the weight of the diamond better than the polished waist, which is an important basis for distinguishing whether the diamond is a natural diamond.

For large diamonds, because the diamond itself is large in volume and thick in waist, the sand waist will hinder the reflection of light in the diamond and reduce the fire color and brightness. Polished waist does not have this problem.
