It is said that there is no harm without comparison. There are basically very few houses left in our village that were the best 30 years ago. In other words, generally speaking, if you live in a rural area for 60 years, you have to build two houses. If you build a house once, it costs 100,000 yuan. If you build a house twice, at least 200,000 yuan will be lost. If you look at the city, a house 30 years ago could be bought for tens of thousands of yuan, but after 30 years it will cost more than 500,000 yuan. Your farmers' houses are just consumables. They will only lose money but not make money. Houses in other cities become more valuable the longer you live in them. Do you think housing costs are higher in rural areas?

Second, the cost of education

Nowadays, it is said that education is free, but I think the burden of education is still heavy on farmers. In the past, there were schools in the villages. Although the education level was average, we did not have to travel dozens of kilometers to the county to study. Studying in the county includes accommodation and transportation expenses, and if you are accompanying someone to study, the cost will be even higher. Not counting the cost of making up lessons, 2/3 of farmers’ income is taken away. Do you think farmers’ education expenses are too high?

Let’s look at the cities again. The tuition fees are not expensive, but the most expensive ones are the various cram schools and specialty classes. In my opinion, these are just a waste of money to attract those who wish to take the bait. Third, cost of living (firewood, rice, oil and salt)

Many urbanites think that in rural areas, they grow their own vegetables and raise their own meat, so the cost of living is very low. I would like to say that this idea is completely wrong. In addition to necessary seasonal vegetables, most vegetables, fruits and meat in rural areas now have to be purchased.

This is also a manifestation of the citizenization of farmers. Young people have gone out to work after planting the land. Who is still growing vegetables and raising chickens at home? After returning home from work, you don’t have to buy vegetables or meat. The only difference from the city is that the same quality of vegetables and meat is more expensive for farmers. Generally speaking, the cost of tea, rice, oil, and salt in rural areas is not much compared with that in cities. Of course, I will not talk about people who eat potatoes and cabbage every day.

Finally, let’s talk about the issue of medical treatment. Medical treatment for farmers is not cheap at all. This is my personal experience. Because minor illnesses cannot be treated in rural areas, serious illnesses can usually only be treated in provincial capital hospitals. The consumption is high, the reimbursement ratio is low, and all kinds of expenses are high. Therefore, the actual medical expenses for farmers in Lailaishu will be higher. After all, if they stay far away from home, they will spend a lot more money on meals.

I am not writing this article to complain, but to illustrate a fact. That is, the living cost of our farmers is very close to that of cities. When we look at rural issues, we can no longer look at them from the same old perspective.
