What does the voice of Bao Gu Shu mean?

South Sichuan calls corn baogu. But it can't be said that Bao Gu Ba is the corn Baba in the market. There is only one staple food made of corn and lime called baoguba.

At present, the names of all kinds of corn Baba on the market are too written, too delicate, too mild to eat, and have no taste of corn Baba.

Bagu Baba smells of sun, smoke, time and homesickness, but corn Baba doesn't.

My hometown is on the west bank of Minjiang River in Yibin, at the foot of Tiangong Mountain in Juexi Town. In the 1960s and 1970s, baoguba was a daily necessity for local people. Describe a person with a loud voice with "the voice of Bao Gu Hua" and a strong person with "the strength of Bao Gu Hua". It can be seen that Baoguhua is very cultured.

There are many processes to make baoguba. On the first day, corn will be soaked, boiled with lime, washed and peeled, soaked and rinsed, and ground with a stone mill. Then make a palm-sized, round and thin cereal cake, stick it on the side of the pot and cover it tightly. Use strong fire, and then use small fire after entering the atmosphere. About 20 minutes, you can uncover the lid when you smell the fragrance of the pot. When the steam dissipates, the golden and bright-colored baoguba comes out of the pot.

Generally, baoguba has no stuffing, so it is called Baiwei baoguba. Sometimes, kohlrabi is filled with some bitter (xiàn), which makes it feel salty and fragrant, so you don't have to eat any food. In primary school, I brought two rice cakes in my schoolbag for lunch. Hungry, I feel that Bao Gu Ba tastes very good.

The production team has less land and more soil, and can only eat once a few days. There is not even a glutinous rice cake when there is no green and yellow, so we can only eat red glutinous rice to fill our stomachs. At that time, there was a saying that "melons and vegetables are half a year's grain". I remember around 1970, in order to solve the problem of people's eating, our production team organized the labor force to go deep into the collective team of Wan Jian Village in the depths of Tiangong Mountain to reclaim barren hills and plant crops, which is called "burning soil".

Wan Jian Village is located on the south slope of Tiangong Mountain, with an altitude of 1000 meters. There are no people in the mountains for more than ten miles. It takes four hours to walk from our production team to Wan Jian Village, which is called "going up the mountain".

I was too young to go to the mountain to take part in the "fire-lighting". It is so interesting to listen to adults talking about the labor life of "burning soil". A big fire ignited the barren hills, and flames and smoke could be seen on the edge of the Minjiang River hundreds of miles away. A barren mountain will burn for days and nights. "Fire doesn't burn mountain soil and it's not fat." The ashes left after burning mountains are good fertilizers. Scattering corn seeds anywhere will produce green crops.

You have to mow the grass twice a season to get a harvest. This is called "mowing the grass" or "cutting corn". There is a kind of bird that will be called "early harvest" sooner or later, just to remind everyone that it is time to harvest the grass. When mowing grass, the sun is the biggest and the weather is hot, which is the most bitter farm work. But at that time, it was popular to sing folk songs about mowing grass to relieve fatigue. Drummer, lead singer, drumming in front, singing folk songs to direct and urge. Dozens and hundreds of people lined up in a long row halfway up the mountain, waving hoes and shoveling grass rhythmically, and singing folk songs loudly at the same time, and the songs resounded through Shan Ye. Lunch was delivered by Baojiaba in the morning. Although it is not as delicious as it was when it was just cooked, it is still soft, fragrant and sweet.

After the second crop of grass was cut, only two or three people were left to see the mountain, in order to prevent wild boar monkeys from stealing corn. Mountain watchers live in shacks on trees. Everyone has a long musket next to their pillows and has prepared necessary tools such as torches and lanterns. I heard that the most dangerous thing is to meet wild boar and old bear. There is a folk saying that "the first pig has two bears and three tigers", which means that the wild boar is the most powerful, followed by the old bear and the third tiger. The mountain guards also vividly showed me their thrilling experience of catching monkeys on the mountain. Is to trick a group of monkeys into a circle surrounded by wooden fences and tie them up one by one. At this time, the big monkey will help the hunter catch the little monkey and give it to the hunter, and kowtow and bow, begging to let himself go. I don't know if the story is true or not, but it feels cruel. The colorful Han chicken feathers brought back by the adults from the mountains are more than two feet long. There are also porcupine spines, about six or seven inches long and as thick as chopsticks. Actually, I don't know what Han chicken and porcupine look like.
