All colors of villa space can be divided into four categories, namely protagonist, supporting role, background color and embellishment color.

1. Decorative color

Colors of small objects such as hanging pictures, lighting, ornaments, pillows and flowers. Belongs to the interior decoration color (often refers to the small area color that is most likely to change in the indoor environment), and is often represented by contrast color or high-purity color.

2. Background color

Indoor walls, floors, ceilings, doors and windows, carpets and other large-area interface colors are the background colors of indoor furniture and accessories (also known as main colors). It is also the most important color that determines the overall color impression of the space.

3. Main roles

The main function refers to the color of the main objects in the indoor space, including the visual center composed of some large furniture and decorative fabrics. It is the central color of the overall color matching, usually based on the protagonist with other colors.

Matching roles

Its visual importance and volume are second only to the main role in the whole space. It is often used to set off the protagonist and make the protagonist stand out. Matching characters usually appear on smaller furniture, such as single person sofa, chair, coffee table and bedside table.

The main role and supporting role of villa decoration

The protagonist is often used to form the visual center of a space, but in most cases, although the color scheme and color impression have been determined, we just don't know which color to choose as the protagonist of the space.

So how do we choose the protagonist in a certain space?

First of all, make sure that you want to present the overall color effect of villa decoration.

If you want to create a bright and vivid indoor atmosphere, you can choose a color that contrasts with the background color or the role; On the other hand, if the overall atmosphere needs to be harmonious and steady, you should choose the same color and similar color as the background color or the matching role. These are two common ways to choose the protagonist in most cases.

In the previous "Hue Color Matching" sharing, I mentioned a color matching method of contrast method and quasi-contrast method (complementary color). When applied to indoor space, it is nothing more than the color contrast effect between the main role and the background color and the matching role (the three are the contrast relationship).

1. Contrast between main characters and background color

The wall of the living room is white with high brightness, which is in sharp contrast with the protagonist.

2. Fusion of main characters and background colors

This is a dining room space, and the color of the dining table is the protagonist; Background color refers to the color of walls and cabinets. Bian Xiao personally thinks that if the white wardrobe is replaced by a closet, the background color and the protagonist will be better integrated.

Common relationships between main roles and matching roles

Take the sofa and small sofa chair in the living room as an example: the color of the sofa is the protagonist, and the color of the sofa chair is the matching role.

1. The first type: close relationship.

The hue is similar, the tone is similar, the sense of warmth and coldness is similar, and the overall color feels dull and restrained.

2. The second type: contrast relationship

Hue contrast, tone contrast, cold and warm feeling contrast, the overall color feels sunny and lively.

The role of role matching

The biggest role of collocation is to set off the protagonist, so it usually maintains a certain color difference with the protagonist, which not only highlights the protagonist, but also enriches the visual effect of the space.

This is also a dining room space. In the two pictures, only the color of the master chair is different. In the first picture, the color of the chair is similar to the color of the dining table (protagonist), and the overall visual effect is not very prominent and relatively stable.

The second picture gives a different feeling. The color of the master chair is changed to blue, which forms a contrast effect with the main function of the dining table (color tone, warmth and coldness), and highlights the visual proportion of the master chair in the whole space.

Therefore, in the indoor space, the matching roles often set off the protagonist through the contrast effect. For example, in the left picture below, red (large furniture) and yellow (small sofa chair) are the main colors of furniture, which are a group of adjacent colors, and the color difference is relatively small, so the contrast effect is weakened.

On the other hand, the color matching on the right is blue (matching role) and red (main role) on the color ring, which increases the color difference of the two colors and makes the main role more prominent.
