What does Farewell My Concubine tell?

In Beijing in 1924, a prostitute's mother came to Guanjia Keban with her 9-year-old son Die Yi, pleading for him to learn Peking Opera. Dieyi and Xiaolou have been good brothers since childhood, and their co-star Farewell My Concubine caused a sensation in Beijing. During the Anti-Japanese War, Xiao Lou married Ju Xian, a brothel woman, and Die Yi felt lonely. After liberation, the two performed on stage again, and the Cultural Revolution began. Xiaolou exposed the crime of Dieyi under great pressure, and Dieyi also told the story of Juxian in despair. Juxian hanged herself.
