Mr. Wu Guanzhong (19 19-20 10), a famous tea man in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, went to France to study in 1947.

These two Shuang Yan paintings should be the representative works of Mr Wu Guanzhong's Jiangnan painting series.

Shuang Yan in ink painting is the work of Mr. Wu Guanzhong in 1988, with ink painting paper banner, 68.5cm x 137.4. The painter showed the purity of Jiangnan scenery on the screen, with black tiles and white walls, vigorous dead trees and swallows flying, leaving nothing superfluous. According to the author's recollection, in the early 1980s, he sketched residential buildings near Ningbo Railway Station, and then completed this work according to the scenery at that time. The prototype of "Shuang Yan" is probably the garden house in Huayu, Ningbo, and this old photo is evidence. Today, Yuanzhai has been transformed into Ningbo Tea Culture Museum.

Wu Guanzhong, who grew up in a water town in the south of the Yangtze River, has always had a special feeling for the Jiangnan folk houses with blue tiles and white walls. He takes the water towns in the south of the Yangtze River as the theme, paying special attention to the combination and collocation of points, lines and surfaces, revealing his deep nostalgia and pursuit of formal beauty in the picture.
