Vietnamese prawns "flood" in Mekong River. A prawn is a slap in the face. China people dare to speak?

There is a kind of shrimp called stone shrimp, which is a large-scale economic shrimp living in fresh water and has the reputation of king of fresh water shrimp. Rock shrimp is cultivated in many provinces in southern China, and it is a favorite food of China people. However, this kind of shrimp is rampant in Vietnam, and Vietnamese still can't solve the piles of rock shrimp by opening the Mekong River for free fishing. What's going on here?

Let's talk about the Mekong River first. The name of Mekong River must be known to many people in China because of the movie operation mekong. In fact, besides the movie operation mekong, there are many connections between the Mekong River and China. The birthplace of Mekong River is Tanggula Mountain in China. In China, the Mekong River is what we often call the Lancang River.

Mekong River is a big river that spans many countries. Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam are all nourished by the Mekong River. Under the protection of many countries, the water quality of such a big river across many countries is actually not bad. Good water quality nourishes the farmland vegetation along the coast and also raises rock shrimp. Loki shrimp is very big. An adult rock shrimp is as big as an adult's palm, weighing about a kilo, and growing rapidly. This is also the second one. The most important thing is that the eating habits of rock shrimp are very extensive, and in layman's terms, they can eat anything. Can be eaten for a long time, and has fast reproduction speed. Besides, it's delicious. The prawn head tastes like crab roe. Rock shrimp still has a good market in China.

There are many places in southern China, but rock shrimp is not our local variety. Most of the rock shrimps imported from China come from Thailand and Myanmar. Since the Mekong River in Vietnam is rich in rock shrimp, why not import it from Vietnam? Because Vietnam is not the origin of rock shrimp, the rock shrimp in Mekong River in Vietnam is an exotic species, which is what we often call biological invasion. The consequences of biological invasion are very serious. For example, in a famous case, rabbits were introduced to Australia to facilitate hunting, which led to the destruction of farmland vegetation in Australia. Rabbits are not native to Australia. When rabbits were introduced to Australia, there were no natural enemies of rabbits, and the breeding speed of rabbits was very fast, which led to a large number of rabbits.

Australia tried to build a 1000 km fence to stop rabbits from reaching Western Australia, but all failed. Grassland crops in most areas were destroyed by rabbits and even caused soil erosion. Australia has been in the rabbit killing movement in the 20th century.

The famous alien species invasion in China is the invasion of water hyacinth. Once, water hyacinth grew everywhere in rivers in many provinces of China, which destroyed the water quality of lakes and rivers in China and affected the growth of native aquatic organisms. China also thought of many ways to control water hyacinth, such as using it as Chinese medicine, feed, fuel and fertilizer, and making water hyacinth into drinks. After a multi-pronged approach, the biological invasion of water hyacinth in China was finally controlled and solved.

But there is no effective solution to the problem of rock shrimp flooding in Vietnam. First, although Loki shrimp is a delicacy for our people, there are not many suitable cooking methods in Vietnam, and Vietnamese people are not very keen on eating Loki shrimp. Secondly, the reproduction and growth rate of rock shrimp is very fast, but Vietnam can't keep up with the reproduction and growth rate of rock shrimp no matter how it is killed. Although people are allowed to fish shrimp for free, it is really a drop in the bucket for rock shrimps all over the country.

Some people suggest that our foodies in China eat the Roxburgh shrimp flooded by the Mekong River, but I'm afraid not many people in China dare to taste it. Why is this? We should know that one of the reasons for the flooding of water hyacinth in rivers and lakes in China is the disorderly discharge and release of industrial wastewater in China. Then, apart from the absence of natural enemies, is there a problem with the water in the Mekong River? Secondly, although the Mekong River is a transnational river that spans many countries, the Mekong River basin is mostly waterfalls and rapids, which is not suitable for the passage of ships and is naturally not conducive to the transportation of stone shrimp.

In addition, the transportation requirements of stone shrimp are also strict. If the temperature is too high during transportation, stone shrimp will die or rot quickly. Moreover, in contrast, crayfish has a more market in China, and people love the taste of crayfish more, so Vietnamese who are flooded with rock shrimp may be reluctant to eat it. And if China people are allowed to eat shrimp in the dangerous Golden Triangle of the Mekong River, I'm afraid many people will be afraid. So this is why although there are a lot of rock shrimps, few people eat them. Pay attention to moderation in everything. Although there are cultured rock shrimps in China for people to taste and enjoy, the biological invasion can't be balanced, which is too much.
