"Cinema Paradiso": an enlightenment movie that warms my heart

The first time I watched "Cinema Paradiso" was through my elective course - Film Art Appreciation. In fact, when I chose this course before, I really just thought: Wow! You can earn credits by watching blockbusters in class, how cool it is! Then in the first class, the teacher showed "Cinema Paradiso". At first, I couldn't sit still because it was an old movie and I couldn't understand the Italian language. But looking at the classroom full of people, I was too embarrassed to leave, so I endured and continued reading. It didn't take long for me to be deeply moved by the warmth that came over me. I have never been so intoxicated by a movie.

He secretly went to the cinema to watch movies, and sometimes naughtily sneaked into the screening room to watch how Everdo played the movie. Duoduo opened the relic left to him by Alfredo and found an old film tape. He took it to his screening room, and what he saw before him were scenes of lovers kissing. It turned out that they were "forbidden" clips that Everdo had cut before. Duoduo once asked Everdo for these cut films, but Everdo mysteriously said to him: "Don't worry, it will all be yours from now on."

It made me realize the infinite charm of film art and deepened my love for movies.

For a week after I was completely shocked by "Cinema Paradiso", I had no intention of attending classes and was secretly looking forward to the next film and television appreciation class. I finally got to sit in the second class. This time, I saw "Seventeen Years Old Bicycle".

To be honest, if it were in the past, I would not have the patience to watch such a depressing and impetuous film. But with the previous "Cinema Paradiso" as a foreshadowing, I was able to really calm down and watch this movie seriously. After reading it, my biggest feeling is that China also has good works that can touch people's hearts. Why didn't I notice it before?

Just two short film and television appreciation classes have passed, but my love for movies has gone in a new direction. I began to come into contact with various classic films more and feel a different and wonderful world from them. Movies have unknowingly become my most important spiritual food.

After watching some of the films, I gradually realized that the art of film is indeed one of mankind’s greatest inventions. Each film combines a series of artistic creations such as photography, art, music, performance, etc. Not only art, movies often show magnificent achievements in various fields of science and technology and humanities. “There is nothing impossible, only unimaginable.” Never before has an art form been so all-encompassing and so deeply rooted in people's hearts.

After having these experiences, I began to understand that the commercial blockbusters I had watched before were also a method of expression of film art. They pursued visual enjoyment and sensory stimulation. From "Metropolis", the originator of this type of film, to "Star Wars" that ushered in a new era, they are all in the same vein, each with its own merits. Until now, they dominate half of the film market, and they are only the tip of the iceberg of film art.

It is not difficult to understand why my reaction after encountering "Cinema Paradiso" was so strong, because it took me to feel another new world of film art, and it was a brand-new, unprecedented experience. . It was also this film that made me understand the vastness and magic of the movie world, and made my vision no longer restricted.

Since we are talking about movies, we have to talk about the rights and wrongs of domestic films. When we talk about domestic films, we often discuss the box office of the film, who is the leading actor, what gossip has been made recently, etc. Few people will discuss the artistic value of the film. I think the reasons for this situation mainly come from two aspects.

First of all, at the audience level, we often regard movies as just a form of entertainment. Watching movies is just to have fun, why bother with so much. After watching "Cinema Paradiso", I also went to find some classic movies to watch. At first, I wanted to share them with my friends in the dormitory. One time, we were watching "2001: A Space Odyssey" and within ten minutes he collapsed.

With the experience of "Cinema Paradiso", I was able to watch this movie with great interest, which was boring in their eyes. From then on, they often laughed at me about it. He also laughed it off. Of course, from then on I watched these videos alone late at night and never shared them with anyone again. Therefore, the audience is very realistic. If you don’t cater to them, you won’t have a market. This is why our cinemas are rumbling all the time, completely like a playground. A magazine once introduced Feng Xiaogang, saying that he was a director with ideas. He made a joke and said: "I made so many New Year's comedies just to trick the audience into entering the theater of "1942."" I don't think this is true. It was just a joke on his part, but more importantly, it was his helplessness.

And from the producer's point of view, what they want is to make money, and they can make money however they can. Since the audience likes to watch popcorn, we will make popcorn movies in different ways. It's all about money. Look at our current film market. Domestic film box office can easily exceed one billion. From the central to local governments, media of all sizes are praising: Chinese film art has reached a new peak! A great success at the box office and word of mouth! We are not inferior to American Hollywood movies! But looking at the box office rankings, there are almost no movies that can make people interested in watching them a second time. Most of them are too lazy to watch them even once. A movie like this is worthless and will be forgotten by the world after it is released. Of course, as far as the producers are concerned, they don't care at all. They had no intention of making a name in film history. They just had to make enough money. Occasionally, there will be directors like Feng Xiaogang who have some ideas, but they can only sigh helplessly.

Of course, this does not mean that domestic films are useless. The problems we have also exist in other countries, but our performance is more extreme and irrational.

As a regulator of our lives, movies are understandable as entertainment, but we should not forget that movies are also a great art and carry the crystallization of civilization and wisdom.

Try to let go of your impetuous heart and carefully appreciate those good movies that cannot be missed. I believe you will discover a new world just like I did when I watched "Cinema Paradiso".
