What was the first candy you ate?

Candies from my childhood

1. White Rabbit Milk Candy

This is definitely my childhood favorite! There is also a thin piece of paper on the candy. I usually tear it off and eat it separately from the candy (a personal hobby). Nowadays, I generally don’t eat sweets. If I do, I only eat white rabbits. When the school department has activities, they will eat white rabbits (laughing and crying). I eat a lot every time. Some people say that I am the one who signs up for sweets (I think to myself) He is so right, hahaha).

2. Mint candies

When I was a child, mint candies were in bulk, with sugar particles on them, which was super refreshing. These are very rare on the market now and should be made by craftsmen themselves.

3. Handmade maltose

My uncle in my family made this and loved to eat it when he was a child. Nowadays, it is rare to see people buying it at the school gate (the urban management does not allow it to be sold, and the management is strict). In the past, an old man would pick up a pole and a small gong and sell it at the school gate.

4. Bubble gum (I forgot the name, please comment if you know it)

I remember it was a watermelon-flavored bubble gum with a red gummy stripe in the middle. I first tore it off and ate it, then chewed the green bubble gum. I could chew one bubble gum all afternoon until it had no taste.

I am born in the 90s, so let me tell you what the first candy I ever tasted looked like. My hometown is Pu'er, Yunnan. I was the first to eat it when I was a child, and the ones that left the deepest impression on me were the following.

1. Double Happiness fruit candies,

At that time, you could buy 5 of them for 1 cent, and many people would also give out this kind of wedding candies when they got married. Every time I go to the small shop in the village to buy cigarettes and alcohol for my father, or salt, I always have to buy it. At that time, the family calculated that, excluding the money for shopping, the pocket money was usually only 5 cents, or 1 yuan at most. Because we were very poor at that time, basically everyone's conditions were not good. I remember my father went out to work for only 10 yuan a day. In order to eat candy, I always hope that I can pick up 1 cent. Every time I go out on the road, I always look carefully to see if anyone has accidentally dropped it.

2. Peanut candy,

This is so expensive, you can buy 2 for 1 cent. Although it is delicious, I am reluctant to buy it. You must know that when I was in the first grade of elementary school, my mother only gave me 50 cents a week as pocket money. I really won’t buy food unless I ask the adults to buy it when they bring it. I won't eat it directly after buying it. I soak it in water and drink it. It comes out white, like milk. I soak it in a lot of water every time.

3. Xiaoyaya Milk Candy,

You can’t usually buy it in this candy village, you have to go to the rural streets to get it. And it has to be eaten during the Chinese New Year, because during the Chinese New Year, my mother will buy it and put it at home to eat. But most of the time, my mother buys it and puts it away, and my sister and I eat almost all of it before the Chinese New Year. I feel that the little kid at that time was really greedy and wanted to eat everything. Now that I have grown up, I don’t like eating anything anymore.

Born in 1985, from Xuzhou, Xuzhou’s specialty is children’s cake. My mother said that when I was a child, I had a small cross-body bag to carry candies and snacks, and I carried it wherever I went. She always slept with the baby in her mouth, so when she got up in the morning, her wavy hair was covered in sugar and she couldn't get it out. I don’t remember any of this, I just remember a toothache, a mouth full of rotten teeth, my cheeks were swollen when I woke up in the morning, I hugged the sofa and covered my face while crying, and continued to eat sweets after crying.

In the past, the children's cake had many cooked sesame and peanuts, and was very fragrant. The ingredients are different now, not as delicious as before.

Later on, I started eating Ooh Milk Candy, Golden Monkey Milk Candy, and then White Rabbit.

When I was a child, I was addicted to sugar, but as I grew up, I no longer like candies and sweet snacks.

The candy I liked to eat when I was a child was a kind of candy called Little People’s Crispy Candy. It was similar to the later red shrimp cake, but it was pressed into a small human shape. It was very crispy and quite sweet. After all, children like to eat sweet foods.

Nowadays, the shrimp cakes are a bit hard. I used to like to keep the candy wrappers (candy wrappers), but unfortunately I don’t have the photos on my phone.

When I was a kid, my mother would take me to buy those loose hard candies during the Chinese New Year. I couldn’t finish them in my mouth for a long time, and they had no other taste besides sweetness. But I still thought it was delicious at that time, so I put candies in my pocket with love during the New Year. Even when I eat a toffee, I feel like the conditions at home are really good.

Hahaha

Where did you find this picture? It’s so kind. It takes me back to the past when I was a child. Years have passed in a flash. I can’t forget the memories of my childhood.

Red Shuangxi The kind wrapped in paper, two cents a piece, I don’t know if it’s fruit candy or sweet potato candy, I can’t remember clearly, I bought it in 1979
