A Dead Tree in Modern Poetry

A dead tree

An old man suffered from cerebral hemorrhage. After craniotomy and recovery treatment, his vital signs were basically stable, but he was still unconscious. My family never gave up, hoping to transfer to a Chinese medicine hospital and help patients regain consciousness with acupuncture stimulation. I was moved by this kind of family effort. Although I knew there was little hope, as a doctor, I still gave them warm encouragement and patiently explained the scientific knowledge about family calling and recovery. The patient's daughter was very moved and said many words of gratitude. At this time, I accidentally found that the dying old man had tears flowing from his forehead. Was it a subconscious desire for survival or a coincidence? I don't know, maybe it was a telepathy. With this in mind, I wrote this essay.

a dead tree

huddled on the edge of a cliff in the deep winter

the cold wind

cracked the skin

branches broke off

invaded the bone marrow

stagnated the pulse

was dying

was lifeless

only unyielding roots

. Melted ice and snow

dripped down

seeped into the roots

Dead trees meet spring

Heart surge

Mobilized the potential in sequence

Finally, one day

the withered old tree

showed a little green

It tried to open

its tired eyes

.
