Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has a large east-west span and a remarkable natural geographical landscape. On the other hand, Ordos Plateau is the southernmost part of Inner Mongolia grassland belt. Due to the differences in topography, climate, soil and other conditions, most of them are desert grasslands. From east to west, the whole autonomous region can be roughly divided into four zones: typical grassland, meadow grassland, arid grassland and desert grassland. The grasslands are Hulunbeier, Horqin, Xilingol and Wulanchabu grasslands. Hulunbeier and Xilinguole grasslands are the best and most representative grasslands in Inner Mongolia. They are flat and have no end. When spring melts, plants that bloom first and then grow leaves welcome spring with snowflakes. In summer, the grassland is lush, flowers are in full bloom, and herds of cattle and sheep on the grassland form a beautiful grassland picture.

The forest resources in Inner Mongolia occupy an important position in China, and the total forest area accounts for 12.8% of the total forest area in China. Forests in the whole region are mainly distributed in Daxing 'anling, and there are Manhan Mountain, Keshiketeng Mountain, Bogda Mountain, Bajingba, Yan Di Temple, Daqingshan Mountain, Wula Mountain and Helan Mountain. At the same time, since the founding of New China, a large number of artificial forests have been built. There are about 46 families and more than 350 species of trees in the whole region. Larch is the dominant tree species, followed by birch, oak and poplar. Daxinganling virgin forest is located in the east of the region, with a total area of 6.67 million hectares, of which 4.48 million hectares are included in the national nature reserve, which is the largest nature reserve in China. The forest area maintains a good ecological environment, beautiful mountains and rivers, beautiful scenery and a wide variety of wild animals, which provides favorable conditions for the development of forest sightseeing, animal and plant investigation, summer tourism and hunting tourism.

The Gobi desert in the west is vast, with a total area of more than 200,000 square kilometers. The famous deserts are Badain Jaran, Tengger, Wulanbuhe, Mu Us and Kubuqi. Dunes, oases and lakes constitute unique natural scenery, especially the "Xiangshawan" in the Kubuqi Desert on the south bank of the Yellow River, which is one of the "Three Big Whistling Sands" in China.

There are thousands of rivers with different lengths in Inner Mongolia, including more than 70 rivers, with a drainage area of 1 000 square kilometers and a total water resource of 510.80 billion cubic meters. The Yellow River is the longest river in Inner Mongolia, with a total length of 800 kilometers. It not only brings irrigation efficiency to Inner Mongolia, but also facilitates shipping, power generation and fishing. Because the Yellow River enters Inner Mongolia from south to north, when the river is frozen in winter and thawed in spring, a large number of ice blocks are blocked in Hetao area of Inner Mongolia, forming an ice dam, which is called "ice flood", which is a unique phenomenon of the Yellow River in Inner Mongolia. Ergon River is another big river in Inner Mongolia, with a total length of 540 kilometers. Its upper reaches are called Hailar River. Along the way, tributaries such as Miandu River, Mozigele River and Yimin River have been accepted as Sino-Russian boundary rivers, and now they have carried out boundary river tours. Other famous rivers include Nenjiang River and Xiliao River.

There are many natural lakes in Inner Mongolia, with more than 1000 lakes in the whole region. It is one of the main lakes in China, but most of them are small salt lakes, which are famous for their rich salt, alkali and mirabilite. Lakes with an area of 100 square kilometer include Hulun Lake, Bell Lake, Dalinuoer, Wuliangsuhai, Daihai, Huangqihai, Chagannuoer and Juyanhai.

There are also a large number of hot springs and mineral springs in Inner Mongolia, most of which are concentrated in the eastern region. There are mainly Lingquan in Zhalainuoer Mining Area of Manzhouli City, Aershan Hot Springs in Xing 'an League at the west foot of Daxing 'an Mountains, Aohan Hot Springs in Chifeng City, Ningcheng County and Hexigten Banner, Daihai Hot Springs in Liangcheng of Wulanchabu League in the west, Weina River Mineral Springs in Ewenki Banner of Hulunbeier League, etc. These hot springs and mineral springs contain many minerals that are beneficial to the human body and can treat many diseases, and most of them are summer resorts where you can spend your holidays.
