Is IELTS difficult or not?

The IELTS test is divided into four parts: listening, reading, writing and speaking. It examines students' practical English application ability. As a professional international test, it is still very difficult. IELTS is relatively difficult, and the specific difficulties are as follows:

First, from the aspects of listening and reading, the topics involve all aspects of study, work and life abroad, such as excerpts from the original texts of American TV programs and magazines. Compared with the questions in domestic exams, they are more original, and they examine the understanding of the articles tested. If we use the so-called test-taking skills in China to deal with them, it will be greatly reduced.

Secondly, compared with other exams, it is more important to examine the synchronous thinking and logic of candidates and English-speaking countries from the aspects of speaking and writing. You may have seen some jokes about foreigners speaking and writing Chinese, and vice versa.

Thirdly, in terms of examination questions, the requirement for vocabulary is very high (about 7000), which is much higher than other exams. Candidates can easily finish the paper and feel that there are too many questions.

IELTS is applicable to the European standard system, which is comparable to other foreign exams such as TOEFL. Domestic exams such as NMET and CET-4 and CET-6 are divorced from the European standard system, so there is no direct comparability, but it is certain that IELTS is much more difficult than domestic English exams.
