Introduction to Zhang Wenshun

Born in Beijing in 1938. In 1957, he participated in the first trainee class of the Beijing Folk Art Troupe and learned cross talk from Tong Dafang, and also learned comedy drums from comedy drummer Ye Delin. In 1958, he was fired for falling in love, gave up the cross talk stage, and started working as a worker, doing business, and building ancient buildings in Beijing. In 1978, after the reform and opening up, he joined the "Beijing Experimental Art Troupe" and returned to the stage after an absence of more than 10 years. In 1998, he met Guo Degang.

In 2002, he held a "Crosstalk Conference" with Guo Degang and Li Jing at the Guangde Building in Dashilar, Beijing, which was the predecessor of Deyun Club. In September 2003, he was hospitalized due to illness. After recovering, he performed on stage again. On November 7, 2008, the "Zhang Wenshun 70th Birthday Crosstalk Conference" was held at the National Palace Grand Theater. Zhang Wenshun and Guo Degang collaborated for the last time on the full version of "The Truth". At 5:25 a.m. on February 16, 2009, Mr. Zhang Wenshun passed away at the age of 71.
