Why is skateboarding into the Olympics so controversial?

First of all, I personally disapprove of skateboarding entering the Olympic Games. Skateboarding can only be regarded as an entertainment project and a means of transportation for people. At most, it can only be regarded as minority skill entertainment, and it can't be said to be a sports in the traditional sense. If such recreational activities can enter the Olympic Games, can mahjong and poker also enter the Olympic Games? This not only violates the Olympic spirit, but also violates the spirit of sports competition.

Let's look at the choice of Olympic events. Many old Olympic sports basically originated in Europe, especially the International Sports Federation formed with Britain as the center, and later evolved into the International Olympic Committee. Through unanimous evaluation and review, it is determined that the event conforms to the Olympic spirit and is included in the Olympic competitive events. Since the 20th century, the United States has always claimed to list skateboarding as an Olympic sport, and wants to put American skateboarding in a very high position. The International Roller Skating Federation is also constantly planning to put skateboarding into the Olympics.

But now skateboarding into the Olympics is basically inevitable. In fact, the reason can be imagined. The current Olympic Games are not very popular in the post-00 or even post-90 world, and the people watching the Olympic Games are basically the previous generation, lacking fresh vitality. Therefore, the International Olympic Committee is eager to accept some new sports styles that meet the preferences of contemporary young people. Surfing, freestyle BMX, rock climbing and skateboarding in recent years are controversial now.

After skateboarding enters the Olympic Games, it may become a form similar to street dance in the future. In fact, the modern street dance in China has basically divorced from the street attributes. Hip-hop has become a pure sport, with a special dance club studio to improve its level through systematic training. In people's cognition at this stage, skateboarding is a sport played on the cricket field, and it doesn't matter whether there is a streepart or not, because there is no concept of street from the beginning. Generally speaking, the street culture in China is not popular, or our street culture is completely different from that in the United States, so we lack some initiative on the topic of skateboarding entering the Olympics.
