Why do many of Stephen Chow's movies look funny when they are young and sad when they grow up?

Stephen Chow's films are very meaningful. King of comedy has seen the film twice. The first time I watched it, I couldn't help laughing when I saw that Yin Tianchou was called smelly shit and ridiculed by everyone, but I didn't seem to care at all. Remembering the saying "He looks like a dog" in a Chinese Odyssey, that's how I looked at revenge at that time.
