Reflections on Reading Night Talk Around the Furnace
To tell the truth, I just glanced at the title of the book and decided to read it well. Confucian classics, self-cultivation, especially suitable for my present state. Although it looks simple, if we can understand the profound truth of life from simplicity, wouldn't it be a waste to read it once?
I bought a lot of Chinese classics at one time, all of which are very cheap brochures. Don't be ridiculous. After so many years, I can't bear to spend a lot of money on books. My food and clothing have been solved, and many people have not.
Night Talk Around the Furnace was written by Wang Yongbin in Qing Dynasty. Together with Hong Yingming's Caigen Tan and Chen Jiru's You Ji in the Ming Dynasty, it is called "the three wonders of life" by later generations, and it is also a reading that many people often put on the bedside desk.
The reason why I chose "Night Talk Around the Furnace" has a lot to do with its author. Wang Yongbin, Wang Yishan, a native of Hubei, was a great scholar in Qing Dynasty. It is said that he doesn't like the imperial examination system and has a straightforward temper. There are materials to test, and I often drink with my friends and talk about everything.
Whenever I talk about those things of loyalty, filial piety and righteousness in ancient times, I often burst into tears. From this perspective, this person is still a middle-aged person in my generation (of course, he is flattering himself). He is deeply influenced by Confucianism and attaches importance to the cultivation of noble sentiments (how about it, is it a bit like me? I teach students that moral quality comes first. You don't have to study, but you have to understand the truth. Many old people have no education, but they are very reasonable and know what to do and what not to do. Such people are still respected. )
The book consists of five parts, 130 pages. If I calm down and study hard, it shouldn't take long. I spent a week waiting for my children to go to school and study hard in the study class every day.
The first part, ideal. I don't know if young people still talk about ideals nowadays. I haven't heard the word ideal for a long time. Well, let's talk about the popular pattern and temperament. These two words are important factors to realize the ideal. When I teach children, I often ask them what they want to be when they grow up. This is asking about their ideals. Unfortunately, the ideal I often hear is to make money. Realistic? But without the overall situation and good temperament, do you make money in a wretched way? Can you make money? )
Personality, from an early age, should establish excellent qualities and virtues. Whether a person succeeds or not basically depends on his personality. Maybe the world has become worse, so many people can't find their way. But China's society will definitely need these. In a few years, ten years or even twenty years, with an open, honest and broad personality, you will surely succeed.
Noble personality, this is aboveboard. (the pure heart is the original, and the right path is the plan. Bao Zheng, a famous minister in the Northern Song Dynasty, also said the same thing to us in Zhaibi in Shuduanzhou. )
The second part, education. Isn't this called a sleeping pillow? When it comes to education, some people don't know where to start, and even think that creating a good learning environment for children can meet his unreasonable demands. Wang Yongbin, the author, pointed out that childhood is a critical period for shaping and cultivating, and it is of great significance to do a good job in early childhood education for their future and development.
Reading is a must. Historian Sang Bing said, "Reading by watching people may not win in the first ten years." When I was a child, my family was poor. "I won't be defeated in ten years." I always thought I was lucky to live to this day. It seems that luck is still related to reading; "Don't fight in the next ten years" is like this! I don't have to spell now! )
The third part, making friends. We advocate making more friends who can point out our mistakes. Such friends can distinguish right from wrong and promote people's cultivation. This is what I often say, and I don't know if I have read this book or seen its fragments before. In a word, what Wang Yongbin said in his book is exactly what I want, and it coincides with mine.
It seems unnecessary to have emotional intelligence and IQ. My EQ and IQ are admittedly low, but when I make friends, as long as a friend can point out my mistakes, I will be grateful to others for a lifetime. The same is true in class. I will write an article later to thank these friends and illustrate the problem with concrete examples. )
The fourth part, the rich and the poor. This is Mencius' classic exposition: "Poverty can't move, wealth can't be immoral, and power can't be bent." Most people know that. Or, Rainbow Yong Bin thinks that spiritual wealth and high morality are the real wealth. It seems that few people say this now, and they refute the spirit of A Gui.
Don't bully the young and the poor. People who often have vision will not care about your economic poverty. When I was young, it was also very difficult. It was' Big Brother' who found me and led me to get better all the way. )
The fifth part, reading. Wang Yongbin repeatedly emphasized the importance of reading. Even though he is not keen on the imperial examination, it is still the best way to cultivate one's morality and cultivate one's character. The author said that he should find pleasure in reading and turn the wisdom and spirit in the book into a part of his mind. In real life, there are indeed many scholars, no matter what way.
I don't see much benefit from reading for a while, but after a long time, it will definitely show up slowly. Believe me, if I don't like reading so much, I won't have a bright future in my life and a happy life now. )
I saw Jane's friend reading a book on the video yesterday. The title of the book has something to do with Tao Te Ching. I didn't understand it for a while, because I was old, and he rose and fell too fast to recognize what he was saying. However, if you have the chance, just ask him. It is never too old to learn. Have the opportunity to read more books and read good books!
Night Talk Around the Furnace can be said to be the simplest classic book of Chinese studies, and it is no problem to read. The important thing is to put your heart down, read carefully and think carefully. We wrote an article in the newspaper, "Be grateful to know happiness and learn to improve". Always be grateful, study hard at writing and strive for an early return.
I am not hungry or cold, and heaven has never failed me; If I don't learn, why can't I be right? (Don't explain, do you need to explain? )
Nighttalk around the stove is very enjoyable to read, with short sentences, incisive analysis and straightforward translation. Most people can understand it. I like this kind of cheap and informative book.
There are many inspirational words in it, which make many people feel that it is not in line with modern life, but by learning from the ancients and their lifestyles, we will certainly gain something and enrich our cultural knowledge.
After reading this book, because it is really short and not as thick as a book, it is easier for the editor to add another book at the back. It was Juck Zhang's nightmare in the Qing Dynasty.
Maybe the editor thinks he is too simple, and he doesn't even have a translator. I have some friends. Every time I meet a book without translation, I immediately yell that I can't understand it. Nothing can be said. It seems that some people don't read books without translation.
Finally, I also extract a sentence: Confucians talk a lot, but gentlemen are notorious.
