Why not buy a three-cylinder car and drive 4AT?

So it is true that high-end cars with large displacement will be equipped with 6-cylinder and 8-cylinder engines. In 1980s and 1990s, there were many three-cylinder engine cars on the market, such as Li Xia. At that time, it was only because of the automobile industry that low-end cars were equipped with three-cylinder engines to reduce costs in order to gain a competitive advantage. However, the consumer experience is not good, except for the power problem, that is, the ride comfort is poor, and the body vibrates obviously with the engine.

In the following decade, cars with three-cylinder engines almost disappeared. It is also because with the improvement of people's living standards, the development of car-making technology and the reduction of cost, four-cylinder engines are widely used as the basic configuration to ensure the smooth output of automobile power. In fact, the best engine is a 6-cylinder engine, and the second-order dynamic balance is the best. In order to consider the cost factor and find a balance point between dynamic balance and cost, most car companies choose 4-cylinder engines.

There is a simple reason. The difference between three cylinders and four cylinders is just like the difference between a three-person cart and a four-person cart. Even though these three people are deeply rooted, noble, lazy and indifferent, and have gone all out to achieve the strength of four people, they still cannot replace the role of four people in some scenes. In the actual use process, even if the small displacement three-cylinder engine adopts turbocharging technology to maximize the efficiency of the engine, it can also have a fast initial driving experience. However, in the process of secondary acceleration in the middle and late period, just like an amateur singer, there is no room for manoeuvre, and she can only squeeze the last resources crazily, making the secondary acceleration an embarrassing insistence. The weight of the car body has not been reduced. Using a three-cylinder engine can only increase the load of the engine, which greatly affects the car experience when overtaking, accelerating and turning on the air conditioner. The structure of the engine determines the smoothness of power output, and the jitter of a three-cylinder engine is inevitable. Even if the engine buffer parts are added like BMW X 1, it only reduces this jitter, but it still cannot achieve the ride comfort of a four-cylinder engine.
