He sympathized with their plight, but he could not save them because the monks and nuns had violated Buddhist precepts after all! The corpses of the monks and nuns were quickly eaten by the big fish in the lake. The bones floated together and gradually sank into the mud at the bottom of the lake. The fish thought the beggar had a bad smell and did not eat his body, so the beggar's body floated to the surface. Both the monk and the nun felt that they had died unjustly, and they complained to the Bodhisattva of the Earth, saying, "We cannot be husband and wife in this world. Can we connect our bones that have sunk in the mud and give us a little life?" The Bodhisattva of the Earth said: " Because you have violated the Buddhist rules, you can only be with the mud after death. But since you are all human beings, there is nothing wrong with love between men and women in this world, so your bones are allowed to be connected in the mud and restored to life." Monk. When the nun's soul saw that the Bodhisattva of the Land agreed, he went even further and asked to come out every year to see the world. The Earth Bodhisattva was soft-hearted and actually agreed, but stipulated that they could not leave the mud. Every year, they have to wait until the third day of March, their death anniversary, to get out of the water and explore the world. When the beggar's spirit saw that both the monk and the nun were allowed to regain their vitality, they also came to the Earth Bodhisattva and said: "Although I was responsible for the death of the monk and the nun, I did not do it unintentionally. Can you also restore my vitality and come to the world to play every year?" "For a while?" The Earth Bodhisattva felt that the beggar was right, so he said, "Okay, you will become a water snake and go see the world on the third day of March every year."

Every year on the third day of March, it would eagerly emerge from its hole in the earth. Besides, there was a family named Bai living in Tangxi. The old couple lived well, but they had no sons. Dead. For this matter, Lao Bai asked fortune tellers several times, and they all said that they were "destined to have no children." This year, his wife became pregnant again, and Lao Bai thought to himself: "It is possible to have a daughter." Live, if you give birth to a boy, you will be afraid and keep it. His wife thought of a way: "If you give birth to a son, just raise him as a daughter, and he will not die again." Later, another son was born, and the couple put earrings on the child and named him Called Zhen Niang. When Zhenniang was thirteen years old, she was more beautiful than girls. Who knows where they will get married? She said to Zhenniang: "Let's become sisters!" Zhenniang thought: Isn't it a joke for two men to become sisters? They waved their hands repeatedly: "No, no, no, let's become sworn brothers!" After arguing for a long time, they finally said: "Forget it, we just become sworn brothers!" In this way, the two of them confusedly became sworn brothers by the lotus pond. But when Hong Yuanwai heard the news, he lost his temper. He called for Zhenniang's mother and scolded her in person: "You have a son at home, who would rob it from you? Zhen Niang's mother was confused and said, "My Zhen Niang is with Sai Lang. What's wrong with my wife? He sold his things at home, bought some flowers, threads and other goods, packed them into bags, disguised himself as a salesman, returned to the village, and lived in a dilapidated temple. When she saw it was Zhenniang, she was so surprised that she hurried in and told Sailang. . It turned out that Sai Lang had asked him to meet at the Lotus Pond at midnight tonight. Zhenniang was so happy that she looked forward to the darkening. At the third watch, by the lotus pond, Sai Lang and Zhen Niang hugged their heads and started crying as soon as they met. Crying, crying, Sai Lang said to Zhenniang: "Dad is cruel, it will be difficult for us to get married. I hope you take care of yourself and don't worry about me anymore." After saying that, he jumped into the water. Zhenniang stepped forward and hugged her, crying and saying: "We can't live together, but we would rather die together." After saying that, the two hugged her and jumped into the water together. The maid waited until the rooster crow before Sai Lang came back. She knew something was wrong but did not dare to say anything. The next day, the Hong family searched everywhere and found one of Sai Lang's embroidered shoes by the lotus pond. They knew that he had jumped into the water. Officer Hong hurriedly ordered people to fish it out. He saw Zhenniang and Sailang hugging each other tightly, and several people could not pull them apart even though they tried their best. Yuan Hong ordered people to bury them by the lotus pond. That night there was only lightning and thunder and a violent storm. Waiting until dawn, the water in the lotus pond was seen rising to the graves of Zhenniang and Sai Lang, surrounding the graves: the stems of the lotus growing on the graves were thicker than a human thumb. There were two flowers blooming on the top, one red and one white, close together. People called it "Bing Tie Lotus", and later called it "Bing Ti Di".
