Haikou Maritime Court held a court session in Xinying People's Court of Lingao County People's Court to hear the criminal case of the defendants Wang Moshi and Wang Mohong illegally fishing aquatic products, and conducted a publicity on the rule of law after the trial. The First Branch of Hainan Provincial People's Procuratorate accused the defendants Wang Moshi and Wang Mohong of sailing from Lingao Diaolou to the waters near Qizhou Islands, and fishing by electric trawl in the bottom trawl fishing area of motorized fishing boats. After boarding the inspection, the law enforcement officers of the marine police seized 523.3 kilograms of catch, 2 wires, 1 generator and 1 cutter.

The public prosecution agency believes that the defendants Wang Moshi and Wang Mohong violated the laws and regulations on aquatic resources and used prohibited methods to catch aquatic products in the no-fishing area, which constituted the crime of illegal fishing of aquatic products, and put forward relevant sentencing suggestions.

During the trial, the two defendants had no objection to the criminal facts accused by the public prosecution agency, and voluntarily pleaded guilty. According to the criminal facts, criminal circumstances and harmful consequences of the two defendants, the collegiate bench sentenced the two defendants to six months' criminal detention and suspended for one year in court, and sentenced the property involved according to law.

after the trial, the president of the maritime criminal court of Haikou Maritime Court and the judge handling the case gave a lecture on the law popularization around the constitutive requirements, sentencing standards, social harmfulness and how to protect the marine environment of the crime of illegal fishing of aquatic products, giving a vivid education lesson on the rule of law to the audience.
