Everything is the same, you must have a clear and definite goal. Without such a goal, we will run around like headless flies. Without an aim, life can only be wasted and meaningless. There is no goal in decision-making, and there is even no possibility of "blind cats catching dead mice".

Decision goal refers to the goal to be achieved by decision. Whether the purpose of decision-making is clear or not is directly related to the quality of decision-making effect. The decision-making goal is clear, the choice has the basis, and the action has the goal. If the decision-making goal is not clear, the choice will be biased and even have painful consequences. In the Second World War, there were times when I didn't know how to make a decision because my purpose was unclear.

During World War II, the United States, as the rear area and arms production base of the allied forces, undertook heavy and arduous arms production and transportation tasks. In order to transport weapons to the front line of western Europe as much as possible and as soon as possible, even merchant ships have joined the ranks of transporting arms. In order to prevent these merchant ships from being blocked and attacked by German planes, the US Navy Command decided to install anti-aircraft guns on the merchant ships. But after a while, it was found that the record of these anti-aircraft guns was very disappointing, and no enemy plane was destroyed. As a result, some people in the naval command raised the question that merchant ships do not have to be equipped with anti-aircraft guns. In view of this problem, the allied naval logistics team found that it was inappropriate to set the purpose of the decision to install anti-aircraft guns on merchant ships as destroying enemy planes. The correct goal of this decision should be to minimize the number of sunken merchant ships, thus ensuring the supply of arms. Although the anti-aircraft guns installed on merchant ships did not destroy an enemy plane, practice has proved that they are effective in reducing the loss of merchant ships and ensuring the supply of arms. Therefore, the US Naval Command finally rejected the wrong opinion of "no longer installing anti-aircraft guns on merchant ships" and carried out the correct decision to continue installing anti-aircraft guns on merchant ships, thus ensuring the arms transportation of the Allied forces. Imagine that if the allied naval logistics team did not conduct in-depth research and adopted the decision of "no longer installing anti-aircraft guns on merchant ships" under the guidance of the wrong decision-making objectives, then the allied arms supply line would definitely be seriously damaged by the Germans.

The same is true of enterprise decision-making. If you are the leader of an enterprise, you will find that your decision-making effect is like an empty cannon, which makes people laugh and generous. Or maybe you have a goal when you make a decision, but the result has nothing to do with the problem you really want to solve-this goal is the same as no goal!

Goals are the direction of decision-making. Without a goal, decision-making will lose direction and have no goal. This practice must be avoided when leaders make decisions.
