What are the rap terms?

The professional terminology of rap is as follows:

1. Diss: A diss song refers to a song that is mainly intended to slander or insult other people or groups, and to use the song to attack others.

2. Battle: an impromptu rap confrontation between individuals or groups. The difference between diss and battle is that diss is a piece of music, while battle is a face-to-face competition.

3. Freestyle: Impromptu rap, usually used in battles. This is also one of the important criteria to test the overall strength of a Rapper.

4. Flow: It refers to the articulation, pronunciation, rhythm and beat of the words in rap songs. Generally speaking, it is the fluency and the perfect integration of rhythm and words.

5. a cappella: a cappella singing, a cappella singing.

6. beat: the beat in the song; background music.

7. bar: a line of words in Rap, with a pause between lines.

8. Verse: The original meaning refers to verses, and in rap it refers to the main song part. Verse is composed of Bars. Generally speaking, a Verse has 16 Bars, and a Rap song consists of 2 or 3 Verses.

9. Hook: refers to the part with the most comfortable melody in the whole song, usually the chorus, what we call the climax of a song.

10. Punchline: The original meaning is the place where the baggage is thrown away in the joke, which is where people laugh. Laughter, in rap, refers to the explosive point of the lyrics, the lyrics that make the whole audience scream.

11. Lay back: Slightly slower than the rhythm, enter the main song with a comfortable follow-up beat.

12. Old School: Old school rap, an older style, and a classic hip-hop rhythm. It is the earliest hip-hop rhythm, usually a simple four-beat rhythm.

13. New School: With the development of electronic drum machines, rap music began to be simplified. The rapper began to boast and talk about social issues, with a radical attitude, and the artist's image was tough, streetwise, and full of coolness.

14. Trap: a hip-hop style popular in the 1990s. The beat used is fast and strings are also used, creating a darker and weird atmosphere.

15. MC: The full name is microphone controller, which means someone who can drive the atmosphere, host, rap, and freestyle. Many rappers add "MC" in front of their stage names, such as MC hotdog.
