My Chinese Teaching Tour in Spain

Shen Sanwu said in his book: "Everyone is an island, happy with his own happiness and suffering from his own pain, which has nothing to do with this world ...".

I can't agree with this. In my opinion, life is born with a blank sheet of paper. Only by meeting, knowing and understanding others can we leave a mark on our own life and finally give the world a satisfactory answer.

Thanks to my experience as a Chinese teacher in Spain, I was lucky enough to meet a group of lovely students and write a beautiful chapter for my life journey.

I teach in las palmas University and its Confucius Institute headquarters on the Spanish island, all in small classes. Although there are not many students, the age of professors varies greatly, from ten-year-old pupils to office workers in their forties and fifties.

Among them, the person who has the deepest contact with me is my peer-Spanish college students!

In fact, I didn't have a very good impression of Spanish college students before I met them, because I heard that they didn't obey the discipline like China students, and even quarreled with their teachers. Therefore, when I met the most "difficult" Spanish college students in the first class after teaching, my nervousness can be imagined.

But after getting to know my students, I completely eliminated the stereotype of Spanish college students. In fact, they are very disciplined and respect their teachers. After we met, we got along very well.

I have a student named Gabriel, who is very interested in Chinese and China culture.

He likes to find difficult questions to test me after class, such as asking me to write some typos like "sneezing" and "toothpaste". When he saw that I couldn't even recognize the strokes or remember how to write, he first smiled from the heart, and then defended me and said, "This is because you are used to typing with the keyboard now!" " I can't help but start to reflect on myself.

What impressed me most was that he once asked me to guess a riddle "A group of people lined up to go to the toilet-type the name of a European city", and the answer was "London", which made me laugh.

Of course, there are also introverted and quiet students in Spain. For example, I have a student named Sarah. She never answers questions voluntarily in class. Even if she is asked, she will stutter and it is difficult to answer a complete sentence.

The only time I lost control in class was because of this student.

She didn't listen to my class that day and reviewed the subjects that were about to make up the exam. She didn't answer questions many times, and even put on an impatient look after I reminded her. Her attitude seriously affected my mood. Even though I tried to restrain myself, I was finally broken through the psychological defense line and choked out of the classroom for a few minutes.

I heard the students talking outside the classroom all the time. Soon they came out. Everyone looked at me with concern. Sarah volunteered to go home and review with a guilty expression. When I entered the classroom, I heard Gabriel ask Sergio.

"? Don't you know? "(how to say" don't cry "), and then the word" don't "... crying finally popped up, which really made me laugh and cry.

In addition to the local students in Spain, I also got two Belgian students who live and work in Spain-Rob and Dirk. They are also the two oldest students I have ever taught. However, as they are approaching the age of no doubt, they can learn Chinese without losing any young people, and they can chat with me in Chinese on WhatsApp in less than a year.

Rob and Dirk are the only LGBT people I have ever taught. I was told from the beginning that they were same-sex couples, so I was particularly afraid to touch such a sensitive topic when I interacted with them at the beginning, but people didn't shy away at all. After meeting me, they often show their love in class.

For example, I once asked Rob, "What are you going to do on your birthday?" He answered "travel" and I asked "where to travel". He said he didn't know. Dirk has bought a ticket for him. The result is a surprise!

The youngest students I have ever met are Jose and Anna.

To tell the truth, teaching children is something I am afraid of, so when the dean taught me these two students, I resisted, but I had to accept this reality. So I began to search online for all kinds of Chinese teaching games as a foreign language and browse the videos of Chinese teaching for children to prepare for my primary school students.

Because this class was taken over from another teacher, the teacher came to my class very kindly in the first class, perhaps it was the first time to meet new people, so the two children were very cooperative at first, but from the second class, they showed naughty nature.

Anna is a very active little girl. She is very expressive, but also difficult to control. Jose is a Chinese boy adopted by the Spanish. His personality is contrary to Ana's, he is slow and hot, and he likes to immerse himself in his own world.

Therefore, I need to spend a lot of time in maintaining classroom discipline in every class, and I often feel exhausted. But even so, they always bring me a lot of happiness.

Ana studied ballet from an early age. Even when playing games, the fixed posture is such a difficult dance action as splitting and bending.

Jose likes painting. He always likes to draw a little shark after his name when he signs in. He also likes telling cold jokes in class. For example, when I talk about the word "cucumber", Jose will think of this word: "A man named Juan likes to croak, or simply Juan Gua".

There are still many students I haven't mentioned, but they also occupy an important position in my heart. They gave me many wonderful "firsts"-the first time to go to a bar with students, the first time to play the Spanish version of "Wolf Man Killing", the first time to receive gifts from students, and the first time to hear someone say "You are a good teacher". ...

These short months of teaching life have really made me feel my connection with others and the world, which has painted a brilliant chapter in my life.

Although my Chinese teaching journey is coming to an end, I will take the energy accumulated from this experience to the next journey with a fuller attitude to meet the unknown beauty!
