I've seen this problem before, that is, when people meet in China, they just ask "Have you eaten", but for some foreigners, they just ask how are you? I think the reason is that China was very poor in the early days, so when they meet, they will ask if they have eaten. Whether they have enough is a big problem before, which is why we now have the goal of building a well-off society in an all-round way.

First of all, what we do is to have enough to eat and wear warm clothes, and then we will think about our later life. Only when we are rich in material wealth will we pursue spiritual wealth. In the pre-liberation period, China's economy was very depressed, and even if we had enough to eat, we would be rich. At that time, my mother and her family had more children at home, so we were worried about eating a problem, and there were no delicacies at that time.

A steamed bread is a luxury. Now, although people in China are homesick, it has become a habit. Just like now, when I live in a village and go out for a walk after dinner, people still ask if I have eaten. This has become a way of greeting. After reading a joke, the way of greeting used to be whether I have eaten or not, but now the way of greeting is whether I have lost weight or not.

This is a joke, which means that people's lives before and now have changed substantially, thanks to the leaders of our country, who proposed to build a well-off society in an all-round way for the continuous enrichment of our lives, but the most common way to say hello is: Have you eaten? This not only reflects care, but also reflects our life.

When I meet some elders now, I still ask if I have eaten, not only out of courtesy, but also out of sincere greetings.
