Jiajie Street is a common name for Jianshe Street by Shahu people in our hometown, because it lies between Minzhu Street and Hedi Street. This street runs from east to west, starting from Daqiao Road (formerly known as Yangxingfa Lane) in the west and reaching the ginning factory in the east with a total length of kilometers. There are four alleys in the street. The second lane is called Panjiaxiang, which may be named after a family named Pan at the head of the lane. The lane leading to the primary school is called Simenkou Lane, and few people know the name of the fourth lane, that is, the lane leading to the oil plant is called "Yuquan Lane". The four alleys are convenient passages connecting Minzhu Street and Hedi Street.

jiajie street was built by hometown people to rebuild their homes after fleeing from the desert and returning home in 1954. The two shops were Tian Xiyuan, which was run by an old man named Tian, and Zhenxing, which was run by Chen Er's grandmother. The two shops disappeared before the four clean-ups. Tianjiadian has a small facade and mainly deals in kitchen supplies such as jealous soy sauce. Chendian has a large facade and many kinds of business. I remember that in the year of three years of disaster, I once bought cakes made of lotus root as the main raw material there. The size of the cakes was like the present Soviet-style moon cakes, and they were black and wrinkled, like five cents each. At that time, five cents was equivalent to five dollars today. At that time, people's monthly wages were generally only twenty or thirty yuan. It can be said that five cents was not a small sum at that time. In the year of famine, this kind of lotus root cake is also a delicious snack to solve the appetite.

The mill is opposite the original town committee. It was run by a family named Tian. The owner is cheerful and likes to joke. Some jokes inevitably involve some "political" content. Originally a few jokes on weekdays, during the four clean-ups period, after being exposed and held a criticism meeting, he was mercilessly criticized and struggled, and was characterized as a current counter-revolutionary. As a result, Mr. Tian was jailed and sentenced to several years of compulsory reform in a reform-through-labour farm.

At that time, the inn was the only hotel in my hometown that received all kinds of business travelers from all corners of the country. The name of the inn is "Jin Tongan", and the owner of the inn is Jin Erdie, and later it was jointly owned by the public and the private. Jin Er's father's name is Jin Shenzhi. He studied in Wuhan in his early years and later set up a learning museum in his hometown. The enlightenment of our parents' cultural knowledge was accepted in his old man's house. Jin Erdie is a calligrapher. He wrote the name of Shahu Gate for Shahu District Government in 1962. Up to now, the word "Shahu Gate" is vigorous and powerful, and it is rare for Shahu people to get Mo Bao. The original site of the inn was later changed into a material exchange.

There are two administrative organizations, one is Shahu Town Committee, and the other is the Second Residents Committee, which was under the jurisdiction of Shahu District at that time. When we left Shahu Lake in 1966, Mr. Peng Zexiang was the secretary of the town committee, Mr. Pan Fu Cai was the mayor and Mr. Peng Zeyun was the minister of armed forces. The industry of playing reed mats was once the main source of income for most families in Shahu Lake. There is a folk song circulating in the workshop: "There is a dike in Shahu Lake, and every family plays a reed mat, and the left one moves to the right, and ten nails are skinned." This is a true portrayal of the hard work of people who weave reed mats in Shahu Lake. In the summer of 1963, a reporter from Hubei Daily made a special trip to Shahu to report on weaving reed mats. The article was published in the fourth edition of the provincial newspaper at that time, with a picture of a girl who I knew well. In several departments under the jurisdiction of the town government, the collective economy of the Second Neighborhood Committee has accumulated the most. Director Huang once revealed in a chat that the collective economy of the Second Neighborhood Committee, calculated with nickels at that time, can fill two large laundry baskets, which shows how rich the collective economy of the Second Neighborhood Committee was when he was in office.
