Basic conditions of language communication

To achieve the purpose of communication, language must meet two basic conditions. One is to use words properly, and the other is to use words clearly. It is a well-known fact that the standard of Putonghua in Guangzhou is not high. So the vice mayor is responsible for receiving the guests from Beijing and reporting the development of the "popularization" work to the guests. The deputy mayor is a native of Guangzhou, and his level of Putonghua is not much higher than that of ordinary people. As a result, when receiving guests, I even said such inappropriate words as "You eat shit and I eat urine". It turned out that the vice mayor bought a watermelon from the market to entertain the guests. He cut the watermelon into two halves, handed the big half to the guest and said, "You eat shit (half)." I picked up the younger half and said, "I have to pee (half)." Because the vice mayor couldn't pronounce words clearly, he pronounced "half" as "poop" and made a joke. If you don't know this truth, the deputy mayor will definitely leave the impression of "indecent behavior".

The development of Ningbo depends on "prostitutes"

After the reform and opening up, Ningbo people seized the opportunity to make Ningbo's economy rise rapidly. Inconsistent with the advance of Ningbo's economic development, Ningbo people's "popularization" work is too backward. Even government officials are full of Ningbo dialect when communicating with others. So a joke was made that the development of Ningbo depended on "prostitutes". Because in Ningbo dialect, "opportunity" sounds similar to "prostitute", "policy" and "police", no wonder northerners misunderstand it. Therefore, language is not a trivial matter. To make communication barrier-free, we must learn Mandarin well. Southerners especially need this.
