Tang's story

The Origin of Mengpo Decoction

Meng Po Tang comes from China folklore. Meng Po-tang's records include Wang Yiqing's "Thorns of Past Dynasties" in Qing Dynasty, Zhu's "Biography of the Birth of Guanyin Bodhisattva in South China Sea" in Ming Dynasty and Shen Qifeng's "Harmonious Front" in Qing Dynasty. Meng Po Tang is a forgotten soup made by Meng Po in China folklore.

According to legend, Meng Po took the grass beside the stream in the underworld and the water of forgetting Sichuan, which has the effect of ecstasy, and boiled it into a bowl of ecstasy soup, which was sour, bitter, salty, astringent and pungent. Every ghost reincarnated after Naiheqiao should drink a bowl of Meng Po Tang to forget the past, so as to avoid the love-hate entanglement in the previous life from affecting the next life.
