It's our 15th anniversary this year, and Beyond also disbanded in 2005, so I can think about it quietly...this wish can be realized this year. First of all, I really want to publish his works first, and I really want to publish some works that have never been published before. Thus began this activity.

In the process of doing this activity, I actually encountered many... difficulties. I want to be very grateful to a very good friend - Huang Zhicong, because... Actually, I... First of all, I just... I just want to make music and make this record for him, but I feel that just making records is not enough. I want to do some commemorative activities. Then, I found Jiaju’s good friend, who is also a good friend of mine, Huang Zhicong. Because I think he can help me a lot culturally and musically. During this process, Zhicong proposed many... and gave me many ideas, such as symposiums and exhibition halls. That’s it…things I never thought I could do at an event. When it came time to do this, I was very excited. I was very excited that Zhi Cong gave me so many good ideas. However, the exhibition hall is very... which makes me feel very... very... difficult. It has been fifteen years. You are going to exhibit his belongings, it has been fifteen years, and to find them all, I will need a lot of help from my family. Fortunately, my mother kept a lot of relics there. Look for some more, look for more, look for more, and look for more. There are also fragments, fragments of our lives! I edited the film at home and stayed up all night. These are some of the...harder ones. But sometimes, when I watch those movies myself, I... many times... smile... very happily. All the demos were in the hands of our previous Japanese manager, and when our contract ended, they were all handed back to me. I collected them very closely and kept them well. Because those are recordings, not CDs, not MDs, and not some very advanced technology. Audio tapes are prone to mold and breakage. I keep it well myself. In fact, for a while, I simply recorded these cassettes into the computer and made them...digital, so I didn't have to worry about them breaking. I've kept it this way for so many years.

During the song selection process, there were actually about eleven or two demos, but some of them were incomplete. Some styles are very different, so when it comes to song selection... I have to choose... why did I choose these five songs? The styles of these five songs are relatively unified. Or that... style, emotion... I would choose fast songs and slow songs, but they are all relatively close (in style). I won't suddenly go to a very special song...I won't choose those, I will choose something more uniform.

As for lyrics, of course my first choice is Liu Zhuohui, who is the most compatible with him. I think the two of them are very compatible, and Liu Zhuohui understands him very well. I think in terms of subject matter, those demos originally had no lyrics or themes. Then I will... use his spirit... the concept of spirit he left to me, his awareness of music and society... I will first think in this general direction. I communicated with Liu Zhuohui, and I said... I think there is a song that I want to write that compares to the people... and is more similar, so he wrote a song "we are the people"... that is, "We are all the people." It means that the world is fair, or that some characters contribute to society for their own rights or their obligations. We are all people. I think Liu Zhuohui's writing is very close to some of Ka Kui's themes.

In addition, some encouraging songs, such as this is the year of the Olympics, and our country is also the organizer. I think Ka Kui actually has a very strong concept of the country, so I suggested writing about the Olympics... There is also a song called "Olympic".

I wrote a song called "His Guitar" myself, just because he kept... there are too many guitars around me. There are at least a dozen of them. If you go to the exhibition hall, you will see them. I often use his guitar to record. In addition, his guitars give me a lot of feelings, and seeing his guitars reminds me of the time he used these guitars. These guitars inspired me a lot and helped a lot in my musical development. It can also be said that these guitars are what he left to me...a feeling of brotherhood. I projected all of those things onto the song.

The first guitar sold to me. I asked him to give it to me, but he refused to give it to me, so he sold me this one. Just... he bought this acoustic guitar for the first time at that time. After buying it... later he bought a new acoustic guitar, and I asked him to give this (guitar) to me. ..."I won't give it to you! It's almost the same if I sell it to you!" Just like that...then I...sold it to me at half price. There were no stickers originally, I put them on myself later. Then I... I cherish this guitar very much. Although it was said to be sold to me at half price, it was still... he left me... a guitar... that was really given to me through his hands. It was not a relic, but a guitar that he personally handed to me.

There is a song called "Nobody's Performance", written by Liu Zhuohui, which has the feeling of a prodigal, a tough man and a prodigal, and a tender feeling, very much like Wong Ka Kui. I also think it's very relevant.

The other song is written by myself, called "Ending". It talks about something... that is more philosophical about life, that is... sometimes when we are human beings... we live in an environment, even if we want to... Escape... Sometimes things go wrong and we can't escape... This is the theme. These are the contents of these songs that I uphold Ka Kui and imagine his spirit.

In terms of production and arrangement, I just want to maintain his original flavor and not deviate too far. I think Ka Kui must like guitar the most because he is a guitar fanatic. Therefore, I must have a lot of guitars in the arrangement, and the guitar is the main part. Most of the songs are guitar-based. Of course, there are some songs where I will use some...occasionally there will be piano, and some new elements will be added. But... because his songs were written in the early 1990s, I would add the flavor of the early to mid-90s and some new modern sounds (that is, new sounds) into it. If you suddenly make it very modern...because it was 1992 when he wrote (these songs), if you suddenly make it very modern, you will feel...a little out of place. I mixed the two things together, and you can hear the new feeling of mixing the sounds of the early 1990s and now.

Many of the people who participated in the production of this record are his good friends. For example, Ah Wing plays the drums, Ah Paul helps play the guitar, and Yuan Zai also comes back to help play the guitar. These are all old beyond members. In addition, Shan Liwen of Blue Jeans is also a good friend of Ka Kui. There are also Gary Tong and Joey Tang from Tai Chi.

There are also people who grew up in our band room. I don’t know if you know them: one is Xiwei, who plays bass; the other is Ah Yin, who plays guitar. All of them are friends he knows. I hope these people can appear on this record and participate in this event. In fact, I have always felt that this album was produced by Wong Ka Kui, so it should have been made by Wong Ka Kui's friends.

Part2 Japan’s footprint

Why did you go to Japan to develop? Actually... to a certain extent, I feel that the music scene in Hong Kong is too narrow. Because for those of us who make music, create music, and play bands, the living space in Hong Kong is actually very narrow...it is difficult to survive. Moreover, sometimes when listening to foreign music or Japanese music, I feel that the Hong Kong music scene seems to be unchanged. When a Japanese company appreciates our music, we have a feeling that... Japan is actually a very big market, and Japan can accommodate a lot of different music. Because we have all listened to a lot of Japanese bands, and many types of music can survive there. We felt that this was a new outlet or a new direction, so we just gave it a try to see if Japan could produce our ideal music, so we went to Japan together.

Life in Japan is actually quite difficult for the four of us. Well, first of all, let’s talk about the language... because the Japanese... we don’t understand Japanese, and most Japanese people don’t speak English very well either. I've tried getting lost on the street and asking for directions but no one paid any attention to me. Just what kind of car do you take? Where to go? ...Everyone of them...did away as soon as you spoke English. Of course that was more than ten years ago, so I think things should be better now. When we lived there, it was actually quite boring. First of all, everyone must learn Japanese. There is a teacher who teaches us Japanese. In our daily life, the four of us would go out to eat and play together, but... we were all very happy. It was quite fun to go to Disneyland, because it didn’t exist in Hong Kong at that time. It was a bit harder for a while, because during the recording period, we were not recording in the city. We went to Lake Yamanaka, a recording studio near Mount Fuji. That recording studio is very far away. You have to drive... for a long time to get there. It was still winter and the hotel we were staying in had no guests. Because it is a resort hotel, resort hotels usually only have people staying there in the summer. There is no one there in the winter. There are only the four of us and an assistant. There are only so many people in the whole hotel and only one manager. We can only enjoy ourselves in suffering. We had no choice but to organize a big food party by ourselves. We are commonly known as the "boring big food party". There are only a few of us...

Actually...life is all about recording every day, going back to sleep, writing songs, writing lyrics...and then going back to recording again.

However, in the recording studio, I think it is a very enjoyable process. Why? Because the equipment in the recording studio there is really very good. Just a recording room is like an auditorium that can accommodate two to three hundred people, but it is only used for you to record guitars, or even an orchestra... a string orchestra can be there. His room can be big enough for you to put thirty or forty people there. In addition, we have learned a lot about facilities and technology. For example: What is engineering? We learned a lot about how the engineer tuned the sound, the opinions of the producer, music director, etc., and about music knowledge. Because Japan is actually a relatively advanced country in music or other aspects. We have benefited a lot, the only thing is that we are a little bored. Sometimes the greatest fun is going to a convenience store to buy something. Because they are all quite special...you know, their products are different from ours...because they always sell Japanese food, which I find quite interesting.

When working with their supervisors and producers to make music, the difficulty lies in the language.

Fortunately, our producers can speak English. They all speak English very well and everyone can communicate better. However, some, such as engineers, cannot speak English, so they need to use translators. Most of the time, when they don’t understand English, they have to rely on translation. If the translation is not good, there will be errors, omissions, and confusion (these situations). So sometimes the work process will be slowed down...but...we are happy because it is always novel. For example: they distinguish many things very clearly. For example, if the record you are making this time has a relatively beautiful sound and is very hi-fi, they will find an engineer who specializes in beautiful sound; if you are If you want to make a very rocky record, he will find a very rocky engineer; if you want to make a funky record, he will find a funky engineer. Each one is clearly distinguished. We even recorded the drums... When we recorded in Hong Kong, the drummer tuned the drums himself. They are different, they have specialized people responsible for doing such things. There is a person who is responsible for tuning the entire set of drums. After the drums are tuned, the drummer comes up to play. To a certain extent, it saves the drummer's energy, because tuning drums is actually very tiring. Programmers also make a clear distinction. In this regard... this is actually very professional.

Actually, we never stop for a moment... Basically the four of us... we like to be funny and have fun. But the recording studio can't be noisy all day long. You may see some films that are silent but vibrating... That's the kind of thing... We don't sigh when we are about to set off. Work started, looking very dejected. We should tease others when we have the opportunity. Shirong is easily teased, and we like to tease him the most. He didn't care, so I teased him all day long.

Why do we How about going to Africa? It's because Jiaju visited Papua and New Guinea before.

After he went to visit, he felt a lot of feelings and came back to us and said: "The three of you will go on a visit with me. Because there are many places in this world, we should go and see them. And we must know what is happening in other worlds now. What's going on?" So we went to visit Kenya and Nairobi in Africa. What we saw... what he saw and heard was really... eye-opening to us, and we had a lot of feelings... Really... what Ka Kui said at the beginning... is actually endless. When you see it in person, the feeling is very strong. That is to say...the children, the place where they live, the water problem, and the living environment all make us feel that we need to cherish resources and care about the future. That kind of construction, or protecting the environment... are all very important.

In fact, the main purpose of our trip to Africa is to visit schools, AIDS hospitals, and villagers. Some... the villagers refer to those very backward nomadic peoples. Our purpose is... first of all, to tell those nomadic peoples to stop cutting down trees. Although he has left us for fifteen years, his spirit can be carried on by everyone except me. Hong Kong... music... In fact, Ka Kui has said that Hong Kong only has entertainment circles but no music scene. In fact, it is still like this to this moment.
