Materialism is belief in matter, while idealism is belief in God?

The focus of materialism and idealism is the relationship between matter and consciousness (which can also be said to be matter and spirit, existence and thinking). Materialism believes that the ontology of the universe is matter, and spirit is attached to matter. Accurately It is said that matter is the first nature and consciousness is the second nature. It is not that materialism does not recognize the existence of spirit (soul). To make an inappropriate analogy, the issue of the relationship between materialism and consciousness between materialism and idealism is like the issue of which came first, the egg or the chicken.

Idealists believe that the essence of the universe is a spirit, or thought. This spirit can be understood as the god of religion. But this is completely different from the ghosts and gods that most people think of.
