Alexandre Dumas fils (1824 ~ 1895) is the illegitimate son of Dumas, a famous French novelist. He had a seamstress when he was a civil servant. Influenced by his father, he also loved literary creation and worked as hard as his father, becoming an important writer in the transition period of French drama from romanticism to realism. Dumas is proud to have such a son. Legend has it that Dumas was once asked which work he was most proud of in his life. Dumas proudly replied: Dumas. Unlike Dumas, who focuses on expressing history and is good at writing historical plays and historical novels, Dumas is good at writing modern plays. Dumas suffered all kinds of bitterness and pain brought by family misfortune in his childhood, and saw with his own eyes that Dumas was influenced by all kinds of erotic events all his life, and thus ended up in a poor and desolate evening. Therefore, Dumas strongly advocated the sanctity of family and marriage in his works, described and exposed the bourgeois social atmosphere, family life and ethics in detail, attacked the threat of prostitute society to family and marriage, and praised pure and noble love, thus becoming one of the founders of social problem drama.

Dumas' representative work is La Traviata, which started as a novel and was later adapted into a drama, praising Margaret's noble sentiment. As soon as the play was staged, it immediately caused a sensation throughout Paris. Dumas has been specialized in drama creation since then, and other famous works include illegitimate child, money problem, dissolute father, Aubrey's opinion, semi-upper class, Mr Alphonse and Francois Yong. Most of them are about women, marriage and family, which truly reflects one aspect of social life. His works are full of life, true and natural feelings, and popular and fluent language.
