What are the advantages of SSD over mechanical hard disk?
SSD has a relatively simple structure, and there are no complicated mechanical mechanisms such as rotating disks and magnetic heads. It is mainly composed of a control unit and a storage unit (FLASH chip). Simply put, it is a hard disk made of solid-state electronic memory chip array, so it has excellent earthquake resistance. No matter what state the computer is in, any action will not cause damage to it (except falling to the ground). Not to mention the mechanical hard disk, even a slight movement when using the computer may lead to a bad road.
And in terms of performance, SSD is not a perfect mechanical hard disk. If you think it is 100% powerful in all aspects, it will make a joke at some point. In fact, the writing speed of ultra-large capacity mechanical hard disk can reach 160MB/s, and the burst speed can even reach 477MB/s, which is almost equivalent to some low-end solid-state hard disks. So why does it feel that the computer is faster after replacing SSD? SSD has obvious changes in the random performance of small files.
For example, the random reading delay of SSD is only a few tenths of a millisecond, while the random reading delay of 7200RPM is about 7 milliseconds, and the hard disk of 5400RPM is as high as 9 milliseconds, which is reflected in the performance of switching speed.
So don't think that SSD improves the speed of reading and writing, but that it greatly improves the security and anytime performance of small files than the traditional mechanical hard disk. Disadvantages? I can't do it without them. As long as the hardware is hung up, it is equal to 88% of the total data, unlike the mechanical hard disk, which can be disassembled and saved.
Incidentally, many manufacturers have successively introduced SSD with M.2 interface. M.2 SSD is divided into SATA and PCI-E. Although it looks exactly the same, its performance is far from perfect. This is mainly because there are two interface definitions in M.2: Socket 2 and Socket 3. Socket 2 supports SATA and PCI-E ×2 channel SSD, and Socket 3 is designed for high-performance storage and supports PCI-E ×4.
The performance of different channels is naturally different, so when purchasing, you must carefully check the manufacturer's introduction and ask the pre-sales staff to know which SSD with M.2 interface your equipment supports. If you buy it wrong, it is not only the price difference (PCI-E version is more expensive), but also the return is very laborious.
