Why do so many people in China hate Christmas and foreign festivals now?

Last Christmas, Chengdu was surprisingly quiet. There was no crazy hype from merchants, no whining from countless young people on social networks because they couldn't eat apples, and no scary-looking old Christmas geeks all over the street. People suddenly found out that Christmas really didn't leave a piece of meat on them.

Think about a few years ago, before Christmas came, merchants began to rack their brains to create an atmosphere, fool the people, give apples when shopping, surprise when entering the store, and reward guests at Christmas. As long as they can come up with tricks, they can always empty your pockets in different ways. Some young people even follow the trend, and the circle of friends shouted who they would spend this Christmas with one week in advance, especially those couples who are in love. They didn't invite a movie, a big meal, a decent gift or a house sale. They felt sorry for such a sacred festival and their sincere feelings.

What is Christmas? I believe that most people, like me, don't know if they are clear. The only information they can know is that it is a western festival. For my uncle born after 70, I have been tired of this kind of thing since I can remember. I want to make it clear that I am not lacking in tolerance or cultural self-confidence. There are many excellent things in the west, but if I worship blindly, I will definitely drink poison myself. Especially when our Chinese traditions are almost forgotten, it is really a big joke to keep clamoring for western festivals.

Frankly speaking, many people, especially the younger generation, have a poor understanding of China's self-culture. I asked people around me, do you remember the names of your grandparents? The answer is no. Do you know the time of traditional festivals in China, such as Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Laba, Tomb-Sweeping Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival and Double Ninth Festival? Few people can give a complete answer. Then, you don't even know a little about your own culture. Why are you so sensitive to foreign festivals? I'm afraid most people can't give a reasonable explanation for this problem.

Of course, some people may get back at me. China's GDP ranks second in the world. A great country can't hold a western festival? I want to say that tolerance first depends on whether you are tolerant of yourself. If we only want to tolerate others, but not ourselves, then this is forgetting our ancestors, which is the same as students getting 30 points in Chinese and 90 points in foreign languages. A person who can't even do himself well, but pays too much attention to others, definitely needs calcium supplementation.
