At present, China society is indeed facing many contradictions. Among them, especially the contradiction between the corruption of party and government officials and the people's desire for honesty, and the contradiction between the rich and the poor, these two contradictions are really prominent; If it is not done well, it may indeed lead to social crisis. When it comes to these two contradictions, they are not unique to China today. In the history of China, although the specific content is different in different historical periods, it is a fact that these two contradictions appear repeatedly. At the same time, Confucius and Mencius' thoughts have been highly praised by the rulers since Hanwu, China and the founding of New China. This fact clearly shows that Confucianism cannot solve these contradictions. Moreover, looking back at the history of China, we can draw a conclusion that the more we advocate respecting Confucius and reading classics, the more corrupt the officialdom and the darker the society, the closer the dynasty will be to being overthrown. Now, in the face of the above social contradictions, some people are not looking for the real reasons of these contradictions, so as to prescribe the right medicine, but want to solve the social contradictions in China by respecting Confucius again. This is just a pipe dream.
Confucius and Mencius thought, or Confucianism, or Confucianism, was indeed brilliant in China. Today, some individual remarks made by Confucius and Mencius are still useful. In fact, historically, Confucianism has always played a role in deepening social contradictions when social contradictions are prominent. In today's social conditions, it can only be so. Because of the contradiction between the two sides, corrupt officials and rich and powerful people never preach according to Confucius' "benevolence" and "moderation", but suppress corruption and reduce exploitation and oppression of the people; On the other hand, people's endurance is always limited, beyond which they cannot survive. It is said that at this recent seminar, an authoritative gerontologist said, "Only when the country is strong and science and technology are developed can we talk about higher goals, and the continuous strengthening of China's national strength provides favorable conditions for carrying forward and spreading Confucianism." Faced with such remarks, people can't help asking: "Why is the old China underdeveloped in science and technology and weak in national strength?" From the ideological point of view, Europeans have the Renaissance movement, ideological emancipation, scientific and technological development, and strong economy.
