What is a poverty alleviation project?

Poverty alleviation project is a measure taken by the state to help poor areas and poor households develop economy, production and get rid of poverty. It aims to help poor households or poor areas develop production and change poverty.

China is promoting the implementation of ten precision poverty alleviation projects. The top ten projects of precision poverty alleviation are: cadres' assistance in villages, vocational education and training, micro-credit poverty alleviation, ex situ poverty alleviation, e-commerce poverty alleviation, tourism poverty alleviation, photovoltaic poverty alleviation, tree building poverty alleviation, entrepreneurship training for rich leaders, and leading enterprises. Among them, it includes not only "traditional projects" such as cadres' assistance in villages and vocational education and training, but also new means and methods such as e-commerce poverty alleviation, photovoltaic poverty alleviation and tree planting poverty alleviation.
