Why did modern China lag behind the West?

Although there was a saying in ancient China that "the son of heaven broke the law and Shu Ren was guilty of the same crime", everyone knows that this is just a sentence, just saying it; But the western countries have really turned this idea into reality, which is also a big reason why the western countries can far surpass China. Only when western countries truly "rule the country according to law" and "everyone is equal" can such countries develop better. Modern China regards human life as dirt, and the word "fairness" is a joke, which is one of the reasons why modern China lags behind western countries.

Three: farming thoughts still occupy the mainstream.

China's thought of self-sufficient small farmers has been deeply rooted in people's hearts. Facts have proved that the idea of self-sufficient small farmers can no longer adapt to the trend of the times, and now it is a world of commercial civilization. It is precisely because of the development of overseas trade and the expansion of colonial plunder in the world that western countries can complete their own primitive accumulation of capital, national development and institutional transformation. To develop China, we must first abandon the idea of small farmers and focus on developing commercial civilization. Only by developing a market economy with free competition can China be able to confront the western powers, but the rulers at that time did not notice this and lost the opportunity for development.
