Although Trevor (Brendan Fraser) Brendan Fraser) is an address professor at the university, but he often does things that challenge tradition. He believes that Verne's novels are not science fiction, but really exist. It was because of such opposing theories that he became a joke in the academy and his academic reputation was ruined. But Trevor didn't care about this. He firmly believed that his theory was correct. In order to test his theory, Trevor took his nephew Sean (Josh Hutcherson) and local guide Hannah (Anita Briem) on a trip to Iceland. While traveling, the three of them accidentally discovered a strange cave, and while exploring, they stepped through the thin ice and fell into the bottomless abyss. However, when they woke up, they found a mysterious inner earth filled with all kinds of strange creatures, exactly like the scenes described in Verne's novels. The evidence is finally found, but how do you get it back to the surface? Trevor and the other three began a journey to find a way out...?
