They all believed that Wen Ji was married to Si. She is Cai Yong's only daughter.

But this is not the case. Wenji not only has brothers but also sisters. "Book of Jin" records that Wenji had a younger sister, Cai Shi, the wife of Yang Dao, the prefect of Wei State. Wen Ji has another brother, but his name is unknown. "The Biography of Yang Hu" said that Yang Hu had made great achievements in conquering Wu and should be awarded a title. However, he requested that the title be transferred to his uncle's son Cai Xi. Yang Hu's uncle is of course Wen Ji's brother. Sima Yan, Emperor Wu of the Jin Dynasty, then issued an edict to confer Cai Xi the title of Marquis of Guannei, granting him a settlement of 300 households. Cai Xi is naturally Cai Yong's grandson. It can be seen that Fan Ye's "Book of the Later Han Dynasty" only recorded Wenji and did not record Wenji's sister Yangdao's wife, which was a huge oversight. Later, Xu Wenchang said in "History of the Road": "Cai Yan (Wenji) married Wei Bo (Zhong) said, one is married to Dong Si, the other is married to Shanyu, and there are four men in Fanli. "It's a joke that two people become one person!"

As for the history of Wenji, it is usually said in the "Book of the Later Han Dynasty: The Biography of Dong Si's Wife" that she was first married to Wei Zhongdao of Hedong. After her husband died and she had no children, she returned to at home. In the middle age of Xingping, warlords fought and the world was in chaos. She was robbed by Hu Qi and lived with King Zuoxian of the Southern Huns for 12 years, giving birth to two sons. Later, he was redeemed by Cao Cao with gold and married to Dong Si. It can be seen that her life was very tragic. She was full of worries when she was young. She fled with her father and lived in Hu for 12 years. Although she returned to the Han Dynasty, she was separated from her two sons. This is something that is difficult to say at a young age.

However, judging from Cai Yong's life deeds, some people have suggested that Yang Hu's mother is indeed Cai Yong's daughter, and there are some doubts about whether Wenji is Cai Yong's daughter.

Fan Ye said in "Book of the Later Han Dynasty" that Wen Ji returned to the Cai family only after her husband died without any children. Then, when Cai Yong was in exile, she must have followed him to Wuyuan, and later also traveled to Shandong. In the first year of Chuping (190), Cai Yong was in Chang'an. He saw that Dong Zhuo was "upright and unreliable" and thought he was unreliable. He wanted to flee to Yanzhou instead of returning to Chenliu's hometown. This shows that he was in Shandong at that time and went to Yangdao's in-laws. at home. In this way, two contradictions arose:

First, since Wenji took refuge with her father in the Yangdao family in Shandong at that time, how could she be "acquired by Hu Qi" in Chenliu, in the twelfth year of Hu Zhong's reign? "Woolen cloth?

Second, Wenji said in "Poems of Sorrow and Indignation" that she was kidnapped by Dong Zhuo's army, but Cai Yong was forced by Dong Zhuo at that time and was worshiped as Zuo Zhonglang General. In February of that year, Cai Yong followed Emperor Xian of the Han Dynasty to move the capital to Chang'an and was granted the title of Marquis of Gaoyang Township. The time coincided with the first year of Chuping when Wen Ji was captured. This raises another question: How can he hire his father and rob his daughter? It is really doubtful.

People in the Six Dynasties were fond of imitating the past and making false claims.

They made a "Preface to the Ode of Cai Bo's Nv" by Ding Gao and "Preface to Cai Bo's Nv" by Cao Pi, and a "Farewell Biography of Cai Yan" by a good-hearted person.

Fan Ye failed in the assessment, making mistakes and making mistakes. It was included in the "Book of the Later Han Dynasty" and later generations were deceived by it. Of course, something like Wenji could have happened under the historical conditions at that time, but it is not certain that she was Cai Yong's daughter.

One more thing to mention about Cai Yan is that her original name is Zhaoji. Sima Yan succeeded Jin to Wei, and honored his father Sima Zhao as Emperor Wen.
